Ashwood Bakery — Restaurant in Melbourne

Came here for the first time today around 1PM looking to fill a hole with my banh mi craving. It was surprisingly quiet, but I am not a local to this end of Melbourne so I don't know how it's like for lunch rushes.

Decently priced at 7.90, though it wasn't something to write home about. It was very tasty, don't get me wrong, but I was a bit disappointed with the bread. When I order a banh mi, I expect to come away with at least a few cuts on the inside of my mouth, and crumbs EVERYWHERE after I bite in to it, but I didn't get that here -- the crust wasn't very crisp.

Unsure if I'll be back only because I was out here for other errands. I won't be making a special trip...

Lovely staff and great service, good food. I just had to write this as this should not have happened if proper food safety was used. I had severe food poisoning Wed. 14th May 2025. I know it was from the piece of cooked chicken I bought at 1.30pm.. The chicken probably had sat there for many hours not at the correct temperature so becoming seriously unhealthy, it is not fun having food poisoning so you need to do better with foods like...

Great quality family run bakery . Pork Ba Minh rolls are delicious with or without fresh chilli. Good selection takeway, made to your order and hot variety of pies,pasties and sausage rolls. Delicuous pastries including fruit slices, jelly slices, vanilla slices and cheese cake. Take home family pies and quiches. Very reasonable prices for quality products.
