I used to love coming here for coffee and pastries when they first opened and especially loved how approachable and friendly the staff were. But I think they had a change in staff recently over the past few months, and it just hasn't been the same and it was just very unwelcoming and cold.
Ordering food for dine in always takes quite a while, even when there was hardly any customers. (Waited 20-30 mins for food to arrive) I've also had my coffee orders messed up a couple of times too - and they just didn't taste great and was either too milky or awful. And also waited quite long for the coffee to be ready (especially when you can see the staff taking their time and just chatting with each other before getting round to doing the coffees)
I also had the staff messed up my bill and didn't feel apologetic about it, which I left it and didn't want to make a big deal at all.
Also used to love the pastries too especially the almond croissant - but the couple times I went there (I gave the benefit of the doubt the first time round this happened).. it didn't taste fresh and was hard to chew. Didn't mind the price increase, but I expected better quality when this happens.
Used to love coming here but I think there's plenty of better options around this area and will only come here...
Read moreGreat layout, lots of well designed seating which is why I gave 2 not 1 star. Was told for dine in to take a seat and water would be brought to the table. As I saw many takeaway orders being made and was getting no water, menus or service, I thought I'd better order at counter. Was then told to use qr code on table, not very service orientated although the girl was apologetic. We then were told their blender was broken so half the order (my kids) couldn't be filled, so what is one meant to get kids when there's no smoothies or milkshakes? So I just got a takeaway coffee as I knew St Ali beans to be very good. Well it wasn't drinkable, 1/3 foam and it was a flat white, tasted like a strong dark roast which St Ali aren't. I know Sundays can be very busy but thats no excuse and yes I have owned a cafe in a tourist area which is dead weekdays and crazy crazy weekends, so prepare for more than 1 barista to keep the standards up 1 on shots, 1 on milk. But well done on the layout. I don't like negative review but when its this bad and Mlebourne is the coffee capital of the world and we just won the world barista championships, just like we're all becoming foodies, we're all too...
Read moreMy experience today at Autumn Leaves was so disappointing. I don’t generally like giving negative reviews especially seeing how much FNB industries have been impacted by CoVId - but I truly felt like this was such an unpleasant experience and other customers should be made aware.
Staff barely acknowledged us, we waited ages where I had to ask for a menu and was told coldly it was order at the counter or via QR code only.
After ordering, my açai bowl (no cooking involved) only came after 45-55 minutes, even though the cafe was NOT full, and this was only after I followed up with the staff. Our water was never replaced even though we were there for 2.5 hours. I sat near the kitchen and BOH staff dropped glassware everywhere, and I saw them drop other things around the kitchen.
When we left there was yet again no acknowledgement or ‘see you again’ or ‘thanks for coming’. One waitress in particular who served us I felt should not be working in a service industry with an attitude like that. I used to love coming here and would even recommend friends here but I’m so sad to say not anymore. Please do better for the local people who love and want to...
