Bagels Baby — Restaurant in Melbourne

Alright here we go. What is a traditional bagel? Should we ( or could we) say New York is more dense than bread? It’s my review so I say yes. A bread roll style from Coles or other cafes is the other. So what do these guys serve? Well for me it’s right in the middle. It’s light without being too fluffy. I chose the Salmon and it was damn near perfect. Lovely caper cream cheese with onion and tomato. I know, the tomato is Russ and Daughter style ( google or YouTube it) but it works. Salmon or Lox was good quality but I needed a lilltle itty bitty bit more. Other than that great. I went in later in the day so not busy but the staff member was so friendly and knowledgeable I thought she must have been an owner. Anyway, 3 thumbs up and I’ll see you tomorrow for...

☕️ Cappuccinos had not a lick of foam on them second order in a row 🥯 Bagels aren’t really bagels, but that’s well documented by other reviews 🥚 Eggs on the bacon and egg bagels are completely cooked through. The first time I ordered the eggs were hard, second time I made a point of asking for runny eggs. Rather condescending “oh they’re always runny” as a response. I get my bagels, lo and behold - not runny! Completely cooked eggs!!

On the evidence I have from two visits, they don’t know what they’re doing. Shame cause they’re right round the corner and the place has a cool vibe. I’ll check back in a few months for the critical third attempt! PRAY (to the gods old and new) they learn how to cook a runny egg.

I have out off going here because there were always queues and I can't be bothered with queues. Popped in today, little bit of a hipster vibe but not over the top, friendly service and fantastic bagels, well, OK the one I ate was delicious as was the coffee.

One thing that makes me angry is a shop or restaurant that does not show prices. This is one of those.. How much was the special of the day? I don't know because I didn't buy it because there was no price and I didn't want to order it and then have the bill given to me and have the embarrassment of saying, actually no, that is too expensive...
