I arrived at about 10.30 on a weekday morning and asked for a plain croissant. There being only a single, lonely-looking almond croissant at the counter I was served a heated up version of what looked like it had once been part if a Coles 3-pack. I discovered it to be slightly burnt and having a chemical taste to it as if it had been stored in a space filled with gas or had been heated in an oven that had just been cleaned. The long black I complemented it with was adequate. For this combination I paid $8.30 and felt, given the quality of the croissant, I had been overcharged. Down the road in both directions it is possible to get fresh gourmet croissants with the same coffee for just 20c and 60c more. The cafe has a generous quantity of north facing window, but because the establishment runs more north to south than east to west, most of the seating is not advantaged by the same. I sat at a favourably impressive long wooden table running east to west near the front of the cafe, not far from the window and I rate this fixture the highlight of the place. The music was pleasant (allowing concentration on work or conversation to proceed) and the young female staff combination was somewhat cold. In terms of physical temperature, though, the heating was about right ... not overdone, as in many...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The menu looks diverse but not over the top. The coffees came out milky and weak. We ordered the avocado with bacon and the katsu burger. When we asked for it to be cut in half the server told us it would be too hard but was happy to let us do it. Service delivery was fast, the presentation was nice with ample food to share. The smash Avocado was fridge cold, even the poached eggs. The olive dip was the only flavour on the plate. The burger came out as chicken nuggets on a brioche bun with bland flavours and ice cold fried onions The wedges were overcooked and came with tomato sauce. As we paid, the servers seemed to want to rush us out and it was all very chaotic. Overall we weren't impressed with this cafe and will not be returning again. I hope this was just a case...
Read moreI was a little disappointed after reading all the fantastic reviews. We arrived early to avoid any delays. Coffee was average despite the fact that they have some very nice hardware behind the bar. I asked the gentleman serving if he had any suggestions as most of the non sweet breakfast options have poached eggs and I personally don't eat eggs. He suggested the Benny which comes with poached eggs or - a burger. After selecting the underwhelming pork with ham Benny for 16 dollars minus eggs I was a little annoyed (see pic) I wasn't offered anything offered a side perhaps to compensate maybe a small discount but I don't think the kitchen should take a hit for his lack of service. 13 dollars for my partners muesli with some sliced fruit in a jam jar with coconut cream. 2 stars... Won't...
