Came here on a Saturday, just after 12pm and the place was empty. I was warmly greeted by a lady who I assume is Kim. She was still setting the tables but told me to sit anywhere. I told her my family will be coming in with food from the bakery and she said no problem. I ordered a special beef pho and Vietnamese ice coffee, I asked to reduce the ice as it was a cold day. The coffee was strong and sweet, just how I like it! The pho broth was tasty and hot, the meat tender and generous. My family came in, each with two things from the bakery and Kim welcomed them and didn't make them feel awkward for bringing in outside food. My husband ordered another coffee because the Vietnamese ice coffee he had from the bakery was so tasteless, and after tasting mine he had to have his own. We also ordered the spring rolls and it was really good, crunchy and the filling was so tasty. It came with shaved carrots and lettuce so you can the spring roll like a wrap. The restaurant can cater for large groups, there were at least 15 four seater tables. Will have to drop by again to try their banh mi!

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne — a true hidden gem offering incredible value. The flavours are authentic, portions are generous, and the ingredients are always fresh. From classic pho and crispy banh xeo to fragrant rice dishes and deliciously light vermicelli bowls, every dish is full of depth and care. The service is warm and efficient, and the prices are surprisingly affordable for the quality. A must-visit for anyone craving real Vietnamese food without the high price tag.

This place under previous management was pretty disappointing. But Kim's was quite the opposite! Very lovely decor, great service and great food. I always base a Vietnamese restaurant's quality by how good their Cơm tấm is (If they serve it) and at Kim's it was delightful. Fried perfectly and flavourful, rice cooked perfectly with a good serve of veggies. Their vegetable spring rolls were lovely also, plus tea served in a nice glass mug! Extremely pleased with my experience here!

We were looking for Vietnamese to share with friends tonight, and saw Kim’s had opened in mountain gate. Saw the 5 star reviews and thought it looked really good. We were not disappointed! Delicious food, so thoughtfully made, the flavours were amazing. The staff were so friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were looked after. For vegetarians and vegans they made up the freshest rice paper rolls for us that were absolutely delicious, full of roasted veggies. The staff checked with us before putting chilli and peanuts in the dishes which was really great of them. The bun (vermicelli bowls) were the best I’ve had anywhere, and absolutely packed with toppings. Our friends had the spicy beef soup and raved. The restaurant is so clean and beautifully fitted out. It was extremely Covid safe with all staff in masks and clear check in directions at the door with sanitizer provided. Would choose to eat here any day of the week,...

Absolutely PHOnomenal 👌

🍲 = ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (Pho) 🥪 = ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (Bahn Mi) 👩‍🍳 = ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (Staff / Service)

I’m a regular patron at this humble Vietnamese restaurant in Ferntree Gully and therefore I feel well equipped to vouch for this place.

THE PHO I usually order the beef and brisket Pho which has a lovely broth with lovely depth of flavour. The toppings are aplenty, always fresh and crisp.

BAHN MI (Pork Crackling) The Bahn Mi is consistently well made and they don’t skimp on the toppings although I do tend to pay for a bit extra meat. Definitely one of the best in the area.

STAFF / SERVICE When I come to collect, the order is always ready to go 90% of the time. Sometimes they’re super busy and there can be a slight delay as to be expected. Staff are friendly and attentive.

So if you’re looking for a Vietnamese place for consistently great food in Eastern Melbourne, Kim’s cafe is 100% worth your...
