Me and my missus are visiting Melbourne from Sydney and we are doing a self driving Holiday, on our way to Phillip Island we took the scenic view as as we saw this Beautiful place right in front of the beach we got so excited cause we were starving. We ordered the chicken burger and the meat pie. The looks of the food were good but oh dear lord the smell and the taste of the pie was very unpleasant as it was obviously been defrosted after being in the freezer for ages for sure the crust was hard but oh god I was disgusted the rest of the day, (don’t know if anyone has ever eaten something that’s been for too long in the freezer but this stanked exactly like that, off) the mash potato was bland and nothing special the peas I bet were frozen too, the chicken burger was a bit more bearable but it was delivered on red bun as “they had ran out of normal buns” it was obvious that it had been frozen too because it was crumbling all over the place… I didn’t wanna make a fuzz cause we are on holiday and honestly we don’t need to argue or stress in any way shape or form but as we had to continue I just eat it, I also didn’t want my missus to feel stressed or bad as she googled this place and she liked that it had an ocean view. Prices are exorbitant considering the quality of the food in this place. Bartender guy was also arrogant and unhelpful. Shame on the chef and management of Brighton Beach Hotel it actually looks like a high end place for wealthy people But beware and come here at your own risk. Not impressed at all

Thank you so much Leanne & team for hosting our wedding on 4/2/23. We had our ceremony and reception upstairs and it was the perfect amount of space for our 54 guests to spread out, eat, drink and dance. Leanne made sure the entire day was perfect from bringing me up to the bridal room before the ceremony, ensuring my bridesmaids and I had a great entrance to the ceremony and then putting some finger food aside for us afterwards. The timing of the reception was spot on with guests being fed hot meals quite promptly. She made sure our DJ and photobooth guy knew where to set up and chased my cake when it didn't arrive on time. I never had to look for Leanne, she was always there just making sure things were going well. The venue itself is really nice with the perfect view from the balcony. Many of our guests went outside for photos, especially at sunset. Overall the venue is great value, and we were so happy to find a place that already looked good inside - we just brought a welcome sign, and some flowers and candles for the tables. It was so convenient to have the ceremony and reception in the same place as well. We have had nothing but compliments from our guests on how comfortable they were, the food and drinks, the location and great vibe. Thanks again Leanne & team for helping us pull off an amazing wedding! - From Sarah & Stuart

My first ever restaurant review, but this experience called for it. I’m not a food snob, but I ate with 5 people on a Sunday and we all agreed this was the worst meal we have had in a long time. Even the chips / fries were terrible, and left untouched. How do you stuff up fries. The haloumi fries were served burnt, the kids chicken tenders and the fisherman’s basket was burnt and over cooked and so brown and rock hard. I was shocked. The seafood pasta was all pasta almost no seafood. 3 prawns, 4 scallops. Soooooo much spaghetti. Not much butter / garlic, just tasted like spaghetti from the saucepan. We couldn’t find one part of any persons dish that was good. Also, aioli was jar mayonnaise. Not even aioli. For a venue with amazing views, expensive meals, in a prime location this is so disappointing!! Sandy Pub may not have the dining room views but the food is sensational at the Sandy and here it was foul. I’m so disappointed as the views were lovely, I live local but don’t think I would ever return to eat here, and will warn others. I would return only for a drink and don’t think I would even order fries at the bar. The owners need a new chef / menu ASAP.

Unfortunately today’s meal had to rate as possibly the worst pub meal experience I’ve ever had. It was down right awful.

I will preface this review by saying that the staff repaid me for the burger that I didn’t eat . So I am grateful for that.

The experience started well, we ordered our meals using QR. The drinks arrived promptly the meal, not so. Happy to wait a little longer if the meal was prepared freshly.

My partner is vegan and ordered the chickpea burger and the buffalo mushrooms.

When the “mushrooms “ arrived we could tell straight away something was awry. We asked the wait staff to please check this order was correct. She brought it back and told me that the chef told her it was the correct order.

Unfortunately the kitchen was incorrect. It was the scallop and chorizo dish. Thankfully I tasted the dish (non vegan) as my partner has an allergy to shellfish. She is vegan for more than one reason.

My “sticky chicken burger”. The menu described it as a “sticky buttermilk chicken burger with house slaw and bbq glaze, firecracker sauce ”. I can assure you it was nothing close to sticky nor buttermilk. Nor was there a firecracker in sight.

The burger (which I didn’t eat) was a chicken crumbed fillet, slaw and some white sauce I assumed was aioli. I returned the burger promptly and was offered a refund. I was advised “that’s how they do the burger now”

The chips on my partner’s chickpea burger were cold. The burger would have had more taste if cardboard was added.

The buffalo oyster mushrooms (when they arrived) were fish and chip style battered with no sight of buffalo sauce. They looked nothing like the picture used to advertise them in the app.

I did advise the friendly staff member at the end of the night about the mushrooms and he was either embarrassed or nonchalant. I couldn’t work it out. I wasn’t offered a refund on those.

Unfortunately the fun didn’t end there. The female bathroom stalls lacked toilet paper in two stalls and the bins in both bathrooms were overflowing.

With such great views it’s such a pity that our experience was a major letdown. This is a “will not return” for us and will advise others...

I write this review with disappointment, as this restaurant has so much potential due to its great location and beautiful ambiance, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver a consistent and respectful customer experience.

I’ve visited several times because I’m a local and hoping for a better experience each time, but it seems the issues remain. The first time I went with my partner, the table next to us was occupied by people who were clearly drunk. It was extremely uncomfortable, as their loud behavior made it impossible to have a proper conversation.

Another time, I went in the afternoon with a friend for coffee. I paid for both drinks, but her coffee took over 20 minutes to arrive and only came after I went to the counter to ask about it. Had I not followed up, it probably wouldn’t have arrived at all.

The noise level during the afternoons is another issue. Even in the semi-covered areas, which are supposed to be a bit more private, the volume of the music is unreasonably loud and the noise from guests laughing or speaking very loudly makes it hard to relax or chat.

But the worst experience happened during my most recent visit. I ordered a pizza and paid for it in advance. I have a parsley allergy, and while the menu didn’t mention parsley as an ingredient, the pizza arrived with it sprinkled on top. I asked the waiter to confirm, and after checking with the kitchen, he came back visibly annoyed and told me I should be more careful next time with what I order, because they can’t be remaking dishes like that. I explained that the ingredient wasn’t listed, and no one had asked about allergies. Still, I was made to feel like it was my fault.

It’s unfortunate because the place has so much to offer visually, but the service and overall customer care continue to fall short. I truly hope they can improve, as it could be a wonderful place if they put more attention to detail and care into the...
