Brighton Grocer — Local services in Melbourne

Be very careful of the markdown items they sell near the registers, several of these items were beyond their Best Before date when I last went. A couple of items even had a long-expired Use By date on them, which is illegal to sell. They’ve also reduced their trading hours and their deli isn’t always open either.

They also went to a couple of nearby stores which were closed on Good Friday and pinned posters on their doors saying that their store was open, which is quite cheeky as they definitely don’t ask for permission beforehand (a manager at a nearby store said this). I don’t see Coles and Woolworths pinning posters to this store after 8pm saying they’re open.

I’d skip this place, you can find a much larger range of items at cheaper prices around a kilometre away on Church Street or...

Unfortunately the advertised closing time of 8pm is a bit misleading. Popped in at .7.40pm to find the deli section closed. I asked one of the staff if he could help me. He checked and another staff member who came from out the back and stood at a vacant register and advised the deli was closed. Given there were plenty of staff and almost no one else in the store it’s a bit disappointing. I suppose if the owner was around a sale would have been made. Just moved into the area and what do I find ? New York deli style salads ! Yes, Woolworths is probably cheaper but this business has clearly gone out of their way to capture all your business with a great range of products. I wish businesses like this would thrive at the expense of Coles and Woolworths who benefited from COVID lockdowns while others were choked. Coles feels more North Korean by the day with its name...
