If you are a woman alone with a toddler, who has been waiting to place the order while her toddler was having tantrums because he was hungry, youâll get schooled by female staff members. Despite having try to catch their attention several times, we were ignored. Instead, if you are a middle aged, cashed up person with dogs, who likes to make snarky remarks on how much their coffee is terrible, youâll get welcome with cheers and giggles from the same female staff members. That is what happened in short, and after being waiting, all while the three staff members kept either cleaning empty tables around us or laugh with the people at the table next to us, I had to rush at the counter, leaving my toddler behind at the table outdoor and quickly place the order. I had a direct tone, yes, but didnât yell to anyone not offended anyone. Yet, two female staff members literally surrounded me judging me on how aggressive I was, and saying things like âyouâre a regular customer, you should know betterâ âyou have to respect working people, we are busyâ. All while my toddler was still impatiently waiting to eat. Wait. If you are so busy, how come that you have the time to teach me a lesson? With your eye watering prices, not very smart service (3 staff members for 20pax, plenty of hands on deck. You are a cafe, not three hats restaurant) and not very empathetic service (read the room if you want to do this job, otherwise change industry- say someone that has work in hospitality for over a decade), Iâll make sure my toddler will have his treats somewhere else. Ultimately I had to leave the venue in a profound state of sadness. Not only for the lack of service for my son (if truly we were regular customers like they said, they should have known our dining habits and needs) but for the lack of empathy, quick judgment and unhelpful nature of...
Read moreWe decided to have dinner at Cafe Latte last Wednesday to celebrate our anniversay and I haven't been able to stop thinking about what a disaster the whole evening was ever since. Stephen asked to try a couple of wines before ordering a bottle. The waiter (Gianpiero, I assume, as his name was on the bill) gave us 3 white wines to try, Not impressed with any of them, we decided to order a bottle of Greco di Tufo, which was unfortunately corked. The waiter then opened a second bottle, which was also corked. Throughout this debacle, Gianpiero was obsequious and complained that he wasn't being paid a sommelier's wage. We finally opted for a bottle of verdicchio, which was average. We shared 2 antipasti: croquette, which were very rich and calamari which was over-fried and the worst we have ever eaten. Stephen ordered a glass of Sangiovese to have with the main course, which he said was pleasant. We then shared a main of scallopini and a side dish each of potatoes and spinach. The veal wasn't bad, although not as thin as it usually is. The potatoes were ordinary and the spinach (2 spoonfuls for $14) was inedible. it is not difficult to cook spinach ,but it seemed as though it had been cooked and reheated, It had a very strange taste. We decided against deserts and coffee and begrudgingly paid $188 for a meal that was well below average, given their reputation. Having lived in Rome for 9 years, this is nothing like the Italian food we know. Needless to say, we won't...
Read moreIf youâve ever in Toorak area, this cute cafe is definitely where you want to be! Cafe Latte spot has been around for a while but they recently went through renovations & new ownership so theyâre coming in hot with great aesthetic and delicious menu â¨
As soon as we walked in we thought the place was so instagrammable and we were so excited to see what their dishes would be. We were also greeted by such friendly staff!
Andrew got their eggs benny đł and I got their wild mushroom medley đ paired with lattes using our favorite coffee brand, Padre âď¸ The coffees were great of course and the dishes were so nicely presented.
Both of the dishes were so tasty too, we loved the perfectly poached eggs and the corn bread with pulled beef was such a nice combo for the eggs benny. The crunchy kale gave a nice texture balance with the soft mushrooms and polenta.
They also told us that their menu changes every 2 months but the eggs benny has been on the menu since day 1 bcs itâs everyoneâs favorite and we 100% agree đŻ Next time we visit, I definitely want to try their Banoffee Porridge cause it...
