The easiest 5 stars ever given! This place set the bar high for breakfast dining. I was in search of somewhere to have a causal coffe and within this tiny alley way was a gem. The best way I could put this- the staff made you feel like you were family being welcomed into their home. I was able get a nice and casual window spot for one where I was served a delicious breakfast along with a coffee that I wont forget. I got their specialty breakfast tacos made just how I like it. I asked for scrambled eggs instead of fried and they delivered on preserving the quality of the meal! A lot of times when i modify my orders, I preemptively accept defeat. It’s hard to ask an establishment to make a specialty item “special” when you throw in special requests that deviates from the original recipe. More on the food- the presentation is never lacking here. Between my plates and many others, you were left in awe with the plate that was sat in front of you. (If you decide to come here, remember this comment when you have the same reaction). the portion sizes were huge and the plating was beautiful! Overall, amazing service and very high quality food!

Tucked away in Melbourne’s iconic maze of laneways, because hunting for breakfastis half the fun, lies Café Segovia, dishing up a big breakfast that’s basically a love letter to mornings in this city. The mushrooms are so good they could probably get their own Instagram account, the potato rosti tastes like it was handcrafted by someone who actually enjoys their job (rare, but it happens), and the scrambled eggs? Absolute professionals at lazing elegantly on toast that was not only edible, but delicious. Coffee and service were both excellent, which in Melbourne is less of a surprise and more of a human right. All up, it’s the kind of breakfast that makes envious of those lucky enoughto live in Melbourne, and if you don’t, you should probably move there like everyone else is.

First up I had a nice flat white coffee a little different from my usual taste in blends but still interesting. Then we shared a tasty muesli with a generous amount of berries and yoghurt.Well presented and we only just finished it between us. Then we shared the highlight of our meal, a Salmon Rosti. The presentation was exceptional to the point I totally forgot to take a photo. Firstly the eggs , coated in hollandaise sauce, were amazing and so smooth rich with a bright yolk cooked to perfection. The owner explained that he sources the best local free range eggs he could buy. The tosti itself was a gem of well blended soft ingredients with a luxurious crisp outer layer that was just a joy to eat. Bien hecho! (Well done)

Please avoid dining at this Cafe!! Me, my partner and my mum had lunch here. First off, 2 food items being the chicken parma and beef burger weren't available and we were only told once we tried to order them. Secondly, my mum and I ordered the STUFFED mushrooms so normally you would think you get a whole portobella mushroom stuffed with cheese(which the menu stated). Instead, we received a small bowl of chopped salted mushrooms, cheese, and asparagus ends that were uncooked and inedible. We already had to wait a while for our food so my mum decided to keep hers and the waiter agreed that he would remove the 2 incorrect mushroom dishes off the bill. I then asked for the chicken ranch salad. Came out quickly but was drenched in dressing, a small portion pf chicken and bacon drenched in oil. Was so hungry at this point as it was 2:30 so I had to eat it. My partner then went to go pay for the bill and the waiter didn't run through the bill. My partner questioned him as to why it was so much and he advised that we had to pay for the mushrooms. This didn't make any sense as he told us 3 directly at the table that he would remove the cost from the bill for both the dishes. My partner then spoke to the owner who had a bad attitude and no care factor and said 'but you ate it'. She then walked off to the kitchen and didn't come back. I then saw her yelling at the chefs but as an owner, you're in charge and you should be directing your chefs on how the menu should be. No customer service skills whatsoever! The waiter even asked me how my salad was and I told him truthfully that it was not up to standard and bad quality but that didn't really matter as he just said sorry. I have been to many of Melbourne's cafes and I have never witnessed such bad customer service. If this happened anywhere else, they would take the items off the bill apologise genuinely. If you're at the block arcade and need a bite to eat, please go to 30 block place or brown sugar. Don't waste your money coming here! Thank you Ali for trying your best. You were friendly and genuine and we do appreciate you trying. Owner, you're in the wrong line...

Completely appalled at the food and service at this Cafe! My daughter, son in law and I went here for lunch and wasted our money.

I can see that the owner has no care factor as my daughter has already written a review before this, and the reply she received was disgraceful. Being defensive and having a lack of empathy speaks a million words. Not just as a restaurant owner..

As a restaurant owner, it is your duty (and business ethics 101) to be involved in a situation when a customer is not satisfied. As Melbournians, we expected the owner to come to our table, discuss the issue and offer a basic apology which we only received from Ali, not yourself.

We were ushered by one of your waitresses to our table. Not at any point before she handed us the menu did she advise us that you were already out of 2 dishes.

Definition of a stuffed mushroom - Mushrooms stuffed with any of numerous mixtures e.g meats or nuts or seafood or spinach. I find it strane that you never addressed the lack of stuffed mushrooms in your reply to my daughter..

We are definitely not after a 'free meal'. We just want to get what we actually paid for. It's misleading to a customer to charge full price and not deliver the promised items clearly, in black and white, printed on your menu. Don't deceive customers!

As for the family you have mentioned that commented on our behaviour, we don't care. How is this relevant? Are they paying for our bill? Did they have the same horrible experience as we did? The...
