The Manchester Unity Building in Melbourne is a real showstopper. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I rounded the corner, I was blown away by this grand, art deco skyscraper. The terracotta tiles shimmered in the sunlight, and the gothic tower added this cool, unexpected touch.

I wandered into the ground floor arcade, and it felt like stepping back in time. The mosaic floors were incredible, all these tiny pieces coming together in these grand patterns. The shopfronts had these beautiful metal detailing, and everything looked so polished and cared for. I could have spent ages just browsing the shops and soaking up the atmosphere.

If you're in Melbourne and looking for a bit of history and beauty, definitely check out the Manchester Unity Building. It's a true gem of the city. I even saw a sign that they offer tours, which would be amazing to learn more about the...

The Manchester Unity Building is a must-visit building in the Melbourne CBD. Downstairs are a coffee shop and the chocolatier Koko Black. The upper offices are a mixture of dentists, jewellers and other one or two-person businesses. A very interesting list of tenants. The building itself has been well maintained with pretty much original fittings and decorations. The plaster and metal work on the cornices and ceilings are very impressive, as are the wood and copper panelling throughout. It all has the genuine feel of a bygone era. This is why you should visit. Take the elevators up to a random floor and go for a walk through the foyers and hallways. Peer through the leadlight transom windows. Enjoy the special ambience that is now all too rare in the buildings in and around the CBD. Then grab some chocolates from Koko Black and a Flat White to complete the...

Standing proudly on the corner of Collins and Swanston Streets, in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, is the historic and iconic Manchester Unity Building. This stunning example of interwar Gothic Revival architecture, completed in 1932, was designed by architect Marcus Barlow and built as the headquarters for the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows. The building's striking design features a richly ornamented exterior, with intricate carvings, ornate detailing, and a distinctive tower that rises above the surrounding cityscape. The Manchester Unity Building is not only a masterpiece of Melbourne's architectural heritage but also a testament to the city's rich social and cultural history. Today, the building remains a beloved and iconic landmark, attracting visitors and locals alike with its enduring beauty and historic...

An absolute joyous deco inspired building in the heart of Melbourne (directly opposite Melbourne Town Hall). Interestingly founded by the International Order of Oddfellows (yes I know what a name but hey 100 years ago!). Beautiful to admire the original fittings, light fixtures, mosiac tiles, escalator and more. Go to take a trip back in time (tours are also run on weekends) and admire what was achieved so long ago which still continues to inspire. 20.9 here for 1.5 hour tour of building which began with coffee and cake in Cafe then a group had a guided tour which was great. So lovely looking at all the old detailing, art Deco touches and more. Such a beautiful old building (1932), wish I lived here!

My denist works here. In this amazing Gothic Art-Deco building built in 1932 for the International Order of Oddfellows. First escalator and air-conditioning in Melbourne I think. This has been lovingly restored or maintained to keep it's original magisty and grandure. Hard to imagine this opening at the height of the depression, but must have blown some minds when it did! You can even take tours of the building tp check out it's features, like the boardroom, complete with monogrammed chairs.
