Vespa Rossa: Stress in the kitchen.

COFFEES: Ordered 3 coffees, each arrived at different time. The young man who made coffees/ drinks seems to prepare coffees/ drinks not by table/ order sequence/ docket sequence.

In a span of 40-45 mins sitting in this cafe, we saw 3 different people behind the coffee machine. The first ‘coffee maker’ —a man— looked very stressed, just tried to pour the steamed milk as quickly as possible. You can see the result in the pic inside the clear glass: Stress in the cup. Chaos in the cup.

A barista will not make this style of coffee; a coffee maker does. Any random people does.

MISSING FOOD: They forgot 1 order. Two orders arrived at 10.11am, and the last one —which is the simplest one— arrived at 10.24am. This french toast ($24) looks so pathetic. Again, you can feel and see stress-in-the-kitchen on this plate. The pic speaks for itself. (And please compare this french toast pic with french toast pics posted by others a few days ago. You can see that our french toast was made in a rush. Would you spend $24 for 2 pieces of eggy bread?)

Around 5 waiters walked in and out; walked past our table and saw that our table had 1 missing item, but didn’t try to come and ask. We made eye contact with these waiters, but none of them bothered to check on us. We had to call one waiter to double check on our order.

Reading some previous reviews, it seems forgetting customers’ orders happen quite frequently in the cafe.

The staff were friendly when you first walked outside the cafe as they tried to get you in. They’re also friendly when taking your order. After that… expect nothing from them. Didn’t even offer water. Didn’t bother to check if everything is ok. Didn’t even apologise when they...

I visited this spot because I used to enjoy coffee with friends at Block Place. Unfortunately, there was a long hiatus due to COVID and the closure of many businesses.

I'm thrilled that those times are behind us and Block Place is bustling once more! This charming little lane in the city offers a variety of eateries and cafes to explore.

Vespa Rossa has maintained the same inviting atmosphere and decor from the previous owner. The space feels open and welcoming, with friendly staff and comforting food.

The menu is straightforward and includes a few gluten-free options, making it perfect for a casual lunch or a laid-back gathering with friends.

I tried the mashed avocado toast (I know, so cliché), and it was fresh and delightful. The coffee was equally satisfying, rich in aroma. I also indulged in the tiramisu at the end of my meal. To be honest, the tiramisu was a bit too firm and slightly bitter due to the choice of a darker coffee, but it was beautifully presented and still quite tasty.

I highly recommend checking this place out! Its close proximity to the shopping area makes it an ideal spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a...

Ended up visiting Vespa Rossa in one of the Hidden lanes on Sunday for a Lunch.

The atmosphere, server and Location of the restaurant is incredible. Beautifully designed restaurant with great ambiance.

However, If you are seated inside near the stairs, you might start hearing cutlery being slammed against something, either being cleaned or thrown not sure.

Food was to the standard, I won't say it was mind blowing and that it would make me come again, However, the cooked meal tasted fresh and with flavour. We ended up ordering a bunch of dishes between us and all tasted to the standard and flavourful. Though the servers were amazing, friendly and quite impressive in interaction, Where the service lacked in my eyes is in getting the food out, All our food came out approx. in intervals of 10 mins, which meant either we needed to eat the food immediately or wait for others to get the food, While ours goes cold. The first took about 25 mins and the last came 25 mins after the first.

Other than a slow food service, It was a good experience.

May or may not come...
