I was really looking forward to a night out with my mum, Unfortunately, RBF must be contagious here… The staff in the pub all look they have better things to do than serve patrons.
When asking for a table, you get a grunt, the lady grabs your cutlery, and sits you at a table. Ouh by the way, Be prepared to wait 20 minutes for your drink while the bar staff walk around aimlessly on a busy Wednesday with only three tables.
When the waitress slugs past to take your order, she stares at her iPad just waiting for you to talk, you place your order and she leaves, never to be heard from again.
Gone are the days of wait staff asking you how you are, thanking you for dining, or asking if you have enjoyed you meal so far. We had to chase her down for some dinner rolls (which by the way are $1.50 each!? Maybe it’s just me but I found this excessive… didn’t they used to be complimentary?)
The presentation of the food was great, but that’s the most I can say. coconut prawn entree was really yummy, no complaints, made us really excited for mains! surf and turf, again, A+ on presentation. The porterhouse was cooked medium rare, but was sinuey and tough, and tasted like hot dog water.. The prawns tasted old, and sauce was below average. It feels like people are scared of flavour here. Chips on the side were like cardboard, there was nothing appetising about this meal. -fettuccine Napoli was worse even, I know it’s a simple dish, but I wasn’t expecting to be able to taste the tin the crushed tomatoes served were in, again, no flavour except the metallic tang in every bite.
It’s not like this is cheap eats either, Our two mains, entre, drinks and bread rolls cost $106. $53 per person at a pub is insane, Should have gone to shanikas.
It’s food to fill your stomach, If we weren’t starving we would have left before finishing. Thoroughly disappointed. There are better places to dine in Pakenham, We won’t be back.
shout out to the ladies at the sports bar who greeted us when we first arrived,...
Read moreComfortable seating, bruschetta entree nice, but the fish seemed like a frozen pattie and the calamari was huge, rubbery and gross. Also they didn’t give tartare sauce with the three people who ordered fish and chips and seafood basket.
Entrees came out quickly but the mains took awhile, and they left the dirty entree plates on our table for about 45 minutes until the mains were coming. The mains came out and we had to ask for cutlery as they didn’t bother to replace what they took, and we never got any napkins.
The staff were fairly attentive except when they got a drink order wrong and we politely told them, the lady was really defensive about it and blamed us. When I ordered a standard cocktail from the menu the waiter looked puzzled then said they ‘should’ be able to make that one.
Upon leaving we saw the specials board and noticed our waitress only told us half the specials and I would have had one of the ones she didn’t mention if I knew about it.
Also when ordering, I asked the waitress twice how big the entree and main side of calamari were and she just kept saying there’s a big size difference. I kept indicating with my hands how big are they but she only said entree is too small for me. In fact it would have been fine. There were also some other instances of staff not knowing what was in something etc, and not bothering to find out just saying I don’t know.
Average food, staff ok but need some training in product knowledge and...
Read moreWent over for a dinner a fortnight ago, my wife ordered seniors fish and chips with salad and I ordered the fisherman's basket, my wife received a plate of disgusting looking chips and a VERY small piece of fish, could have been a fish finger, I had to give her some of my meal as hers was so small, no salad but we did get one eventually. For another four dollars we could have got two LARGE pieces of fresh fish cooked in a lovely crispy batter and a serving of lovely chips from across the road, not the terrible "fish" that is served out of a packet with no real batter. It seem that seniors are just a nuisance value at the evening dinner time!! No respect by the kitchen staff, food just thrown on the plate. We had dinner last Thursday, the roast meal was not too bad but the gravy was tasteless, are the kitchen staff trying to get rich overnight?? When speaking to a waitress, my wife was told to take a good look as that is what she could expect in the future. About a month ago I had the seniors "chicken Kiev", this was served on a bed of dried rice with no liquid of any kind. When I cut into the kiev, it was so small with hardly any chicken and totally devoid of any garlic butter. Don't the "chefs" realize that many elderly people have difficulties swallowing or chewing and need some form of liquid with their food? If the club expects the bistro to be a "must go place", they need to concentrate on quality, (even for seniors) word will...
