Chargrill Charlie's Camberwell — Restaurant in Melbourne

DREADFUL! DON'T GO. We won't be back (Camberwell Chargrill Charlie's).

We have had multiple issues with this store. Last time they gave our entire order to someone else and then made my wife speak to the manager to resolve,, the time before that they shorted us 2 burgers and once again gave us a hard time about it.

Tonight my order was late for pickup. I had to prompt staff (2 minutes before the end of my pickup time) about my order. They had not even started cooking/preparing my order (burgers), which you could see as no burgers were being prepared at all. After they started my order I asked to speak to the manager/owner to provide some feedback and enquire why our order had not been commenced so they could understand that something may be not working with their processes. The manager/owner told me "we prepare the order to be ready at the pickup time". I said the order only started being prepared after I prompted staff at 6:43pm (2 minutes before the end of the pickup time) and that it was already 5 minutes late and nowhere near ready. He rudely answered "its been busy tonight mate" and walked away. So they took no ownership in the mistake or willingness to understand what could be done better,

To add insult to injury our order got shorted (again) and bacon from one of the burgers was missing. We have friends who have had similar issues.

Not good enough @Chargrill Charlie's (CAMBERWELL)...

I came to Chargrill Charlie's Camberwell with my basketball team. Although it has a nice American-style rustic interior vibe, the service is slightly questionable. I ordered the family pack which was a takeaway order. But the restaurant itself has several tables and spaces for dining, but we were not allowed to get the takeaway order served on plates. Like how ridiculous that you have dining tables and plates and cutlery, but there are certain meals that can't possibly be served to eat in. They also had wireless charging ports on the centre of the tables, but they didn't work with any of our phones. I don't know if they're specific to iPhone X or Samsung or something, but therefore they seem to be unusable by most customers. The food itself was alright; the wedges didn't seem very fresh, but the salad and chicken was quite nice. Thank you for the experience Chargrill Charlie's Camberwell. I may or may not be back for more!

Update: Our basketball team came to Chargrill Charlie’s again but this time around, most of us decided to take the healthier route and order salads. I got the chicken, avocado, lettuce and tomato salad. Not only did it taste delicious and healthy but it was also reasonably priced and sizable for the portion I ordered. It also satisfied me and I didn’t even require chips. I would say my second time coming here was more enjoyable than the first. Thank you...

Thought I’d give this place a few gos before reviewing to see if it got better. I must say I love the fact whoever takes your order is the one the prepares it and brings it to you, service has generally been good except when it’s busy and there’s no napkins and you are mid meal and you have to wait for them to fill up the little buckets on the tables. First visit we had burgers and they were great! Each visit the quantity has been large but quality hasn’t been there. Second time had roast lamb and veg, the cauliflower cheese and broccoli was brilliant but the lamb was sitting in juice/gravy in the bainmarie and presliced paper thin but lots of it. I’d rather less and better taste and quality. The third time we got Chicken and Veg just before 5pm and there were hardly any veggies was shattered no cauli or broccoli so we got potato salad. Potato’s were cooked well but no flavour and didn’t even get a slice of egg. The 2 half chickens were cut into 6 but they were so dry I couldn’t finish it, didn’t seem freshly cut at all. After we started eating all the veggies came out which I probably should’ve asked when ordering as I would’ve waited another 5 mins. Will probably come back again but would stick to a burger.
