Chilli Bar Tandoori Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Melbourne

Arrived for our 6.30pm booking at 6.15 and were kindly seated, the restaurant was not full at this time. Our first interaction with staff to take our drink order was 7.15 (despite trying to get their attention), we also ordered Entree at this time and asked to order mains but she said she would take our mains order when she brought out our drinks. She brought some drinks quickly although for another 30 mins forgot 2 of them until we reminded them. Our entrees came and we ate them. I then asked to order mains which she said she would come back. Another 20 mins and she finally returned to take our order. The food actually came out quick and was quite good although the dishes were small and expensive (I counted about 3 pieces of beef in the Vindaloo for $25). We went here for our first time. Ordered the 4 piece tandoori chicken and also ordered the tandoori lamb cutlets. The chicken was not flavourful and was tough. The lamb cutlets were %95 fat with the slightest bit of edible meat. Also ordered Chicken jalfrezi and found bits of chicken that had gristle and were inedible. Then also ordered a prawn vindaloo, the prawns were under done and the garlic was burnt. Then we go to pay and somehow we get charged $10 gst (scam)? The food all up was over $100 such a total rip off for the lack of quality this place produces. At the time we walked in the staff look totally unprofessional in their attire wearing hoodies and dagy track pants. For what your charging you should have higher standards of staff and produce far better food. Will not be ripped off by...

I dined at Chilli Bar Tandoori today evening and have mixed feelings about my experience. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and the waitress was friendly. We ordered roti, dal makhani, mixed veggies, aloo paratha, and tandoori chicken. While the dal makhani, roti, and aloo paratha were tasty, the mixed veggies curry was disappointing as the vegetables were undercooked. The tandoori chicken was the worst part of the meal - it had an awful taste and smell, and was heavily coated in red color which was hard to wash off. However, the staff was polite and the chef enquired about the issue and later offered a refund when we gave feedback on the food but we appreciated the chef's kind gesture in offering a refund, but we declined it.
