Absolutely abysmal. Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had in terms of restaurants. Location is pretty nice and well decorated but that's all the praise I can give. I was there with my partner and the (newly hired) waitress took his order... and left without noticing me, sitting in front of him. Later it turned out she wrote down the wrong thing. The food, oh my god. I never knew you could screw up lemon chicken and noodles this bad. The chicken was bland and badly seasoned, the sauce was generic. My noodles were half burned and upset my stomach for hours. Wasn't able to taste the vegetable at all thanks to the sauce being literally goo with pepper. SO MUCH PEPPER. When confronted about the issue, the staff was argumentative. Do yourself a favour and go to Maccas or smth.

What has been a great restaurant in the past unfortunately now delivers fresh but very bland food. The Szechuan chicken was a dish that was grey and uninviting and no flavour apart from overpowering pepper. The holkien oyster noodles lacked any flavour whatsoever. The Singapore noodles were basic curry noodles with no meat and very little veg. Also they have gone to using trendy cardboard noodle boxes that contain very small serves. Sorry guys but you need to get back to the basis that made you so successful in our village all those years ago.

Best Chinese restaurant. I love their food and the people. You should try their lemon chicken and the fried rice. You should also try their home made sing Tao roll and sui mai. They do it fresh all the time and tastes so great. If your around the area and craving for Chinese food please do visit this restaurant. They are also one of the oldest Chinese restaurant in Melbourne established 40-45 years back.

AVOID - Google won't allow me to give this a minus five stars.

An awful "Faulty Towers" mothers day dinner. We had to wait nearly an hour for the first dish, which was supposed to be fried rice. What was presented was steamed rice with some peas on top.

Some of the highlights including a waiter trying to give us the wrong food, another waitress realising on the table next to us it was wrong as the people parted ways for her to put the food on their table, another waiter realising they had forgotten our order and putting his hands on his head and then turning and running back to the kitchen.

Not to be outdone, someone else put a massive plastic box filled with dirty dishes on the table while we were still eating and advised "I'm just starting to clean up" and proceeded to take a dipping sauce my friend was still using. When he complained, she reached in and pulled it out of the dirty dishes for him to use again!

The whole "Quick dinner" (As we had kids) took over two and half hours. Sing Tao...

I have been eating at the Sing Tao for 40 years. I remember going there as a kid with mum or dad to pick up take aways. We had to bring our own saucepans for them to put the food in, these were the days before take away containers. You could say they were one of the first doing take away in Melbourne. I still eat there regularly including my 50th birthday dinner last month. The food has always been exceptional, well priced and fantastic service. Nothing is too much trouble and special requests have always been met. Jason is the consumate host. Give it a try, you won't be...
