A hidden gem just off main street, how have we never been here before? Jour is a cute French cafe serving up all those dishes you heard about in French class, but you don't have to order in French :P . 🍄Portobello mushroom and truffle tartine - with thyme, truffle oil and parmesan 🧄 Savoury crepes with house marinated feta, confit garlic honey and thyme 🥪 Croque Monsieur (vegetarian version) - portobello mushrooms, gruyere & leek bechamel, served w beetroot salad 🥐 Cafe Gourmand - coffee & a small selection of pastries + gelato . Seated out front in the parklet for a leisurely lunch, in the shade this would be the perfect in fall. Classic mushroom toast is always a crowd pleaser, the decadent croque monsieur we loved - it's not often you come across a vegetarian option after all. Herbs, butter and cheese is always the answer. Our favourite though: that savory crepe! That flavour combo is ingenious, that confit garlic honey, we need a jar to go please. . 🥐 The pastry display, much to our delight was fully stocked when we arrived (not a morning person) the blueberry, lemon almond tea cake was moist and so lovingly presented. Airy madeleines, that golden brown crispy exterior of the cannele, contrasted by the soft honeycomb like of the inside (not bee honeycomb, look up 'white cake hawaii', if you've never had one of these you're missing out). The brownies are that rare fudgy type, served with vanilla bean gelato melts French pastries are on another level. . 💵 We don't normally talk about prices (client doesn't like that) but that afternoon tea platter is only $16 for one (picture half size) or $30 for two, which is a really good deal considering location, and the quality. A must visit French cafe in Collingwood @jourcafe checkout this weekend for a dreamiest French brunch with your friends and family over authentic French food and amazing coffee.

What we had:

Portobello mushroom and truffle tartine, this was my absolute favourite brekkie dish I tried here, can have it again and again, it felt very comforting to me with all the flavours in it. Must try.

Savoury crepes were my second favourite and it’s quite light with the feta yet very delicious with honey and confit garlic. The crepe itself tasted so light and tasty. Definitely highly recommended

Croque Monsieur, this was so different and good to have it with all the amazing ingredients of this classic French toasted sandwich, comes with a side of fresh beetroot salad.

Cafe Gourmand, this is just perfect for your arvo snacking, a platter comes with so many amazing and freshly baked bite sized French cakes, like Madeline, Canelés, brownie and your choice of tea/coffee. This the best thing that you must try here.

The service is very prompt and the prices are super reasonable considering they serve just good quality food and drinks here. And such a charming vibe this cafe boasts of, yes very French and dreamy as well.

🍄 Portobello Mushroom & Truffle Tartine Best dish I tried! 🏆 Full of truffle flavor, crispy sourdough soaked up all the essence of portobello mushrooms in cream & thyme, truffle oil & parmesan shavings 🤌

🥑 Avocado Tartine Avo on toasted organic sourdough with confit tomato, garlic & feta.Remember to add a poached egg! 🍳

🍅 Shakshuka Oven baked eggs chilling in the tomato sauce with a capsicum kick🌶️ Topped with yogurt and fresh coriander 🌿
