Coffee Plus Office — Restaurant in Melbourne

I moved to Collingwood about a year ago and have been walking past this cafe. But it has many great reviews and is very close so I thought, "Give it a try." I walked in the door at 2:08, aware that they close at 2:30. So I ordered a piccolo to drink there because I knew I could finish a coffee in 10 minutes. The woman behind the counter barely looked at me and her only words were, "We close at 2:30." Had I ordered a meal her comment would have seemed unfriendly but been easier to understand. But there were other customers drinking coffee and chatting, so it seemed incredibly abrasive. When she brought the coffee, she didn't even look at me. I had just received some really difficult news about a family member and any human kindness would have gone a long way in that moment. But this person didn't even see me. That complete lack of human connection, especially in a vulnerable moment, is something I won't forget. I live locally and have been here for takeaway coffees a few times and never had a problem. But today I came in with my 2 year old and asked for a babycino in a regular cup (so she feels like an adult drinking real coffee). I confirmed with the barista that it was just milk and not thinking twice about it handed to my toddler, she started drinking it, being so excited then she screamed in pain, and babycino was piping hot!!! I had a sip and it was hotter than my coffee. Like why in the world would anyone make a piping hot babycino. If you were a parent you would know it’s one of the worst feelings seeing your child being burnt! And she was literally trembling in pain. Consistently great coffee along with super service. It literally feels like the manager knows every single customer personally. A small assortment of good quality savory and sweet items is available, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious and fresh. My absolute favorite coffee in Collingwood, and at a better price point than most all the others (no up charge for alternative milks!) Edit - staffing change.
