Dad and Dave's Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Our overall experience was quite disappointing. We visited this café early in the morning for breakfast and found ourselves to be the only customers throughout our entire visit. Unfortunately, the lack of music or any background noise resulted in a complete absence of ambiance or atmosphere. The silence was so pronounced that we felt the need to whisper, and it seemed as though the staff were watching us the entire time so we didn't feel free to conversate. The gentleman who served us barely interacted with us, making the customer service experience rather strange.

Moreover, the food was a major let-down, especially considering the positive reviews we had seen about this place. Despite being the only patrons, we had to wait a considerable amount of time for our meals. Regrettably, everything we ordered tasted bland and strikingly similar, as if it had all been cooked in the same pan with minimal seasoning.

On a positive note, the coffee served was good quality. However, we found it difficult to truly enjoy our time due to the lacklustre atmosphere. It was not a pleasant breakfast experience, and we were eager to leave as soon...

okay- so i’m a little peeved. we ordered 2 iced coffees one with soy milk (the only alteration). I didnt check the price stupidly, but it was $17.30. I’m sorry but, that is insane, i even asked if it was a mistake. It was $15 regularly, which is also high but a $2 WEEKEND surcharge, on a saturday. Noticed there was a small sign after we payed, strange to not let us know the price or the surcharge since it’s not the norm for saturday surcharges. infact, strange at all since there isn’t saturday penalty rates. they were okay coffee, watery but i wouldn’t be so nit picky if they didn’t cost the same as a take away meal.

Extremely disappointed with the place. Had high expectations due to “good reviews” but when we got there, customer service was pretty bad. Waiter seemed slightly rude, when he was serving the coffee, he was not even saying which one it was. Service took close to an hour for 2 pastries and 3 meals, which was long considering they were not busy at all. Ordered fish tacos, which was a total let down. The fish tasted like frozen fish you’d buy from woolies and tacos were cold and also tasted stale. It came with about 5-6 pieces or thin soggy sweet potato fries that looked like they just took from our order of the bowl of fries. 👎🏽
