A hidden gem on Springvale road, only a short walk from the train station, Desserts by Night is serving up French and Asian inspired desserts from midday to midnight every single day! The spacious interior is a popular spot with the late night crowd seeking a sweet treat and great coffee in a relaxed space while catching up with friends.
The menu caters for their Halal customers, and most items are either Gluten free or have a GF option. They have a good range of drinks including great coffee (Veneziano is the brew of choice) T2 teas and smoothies, plus you can treat yourself to either a green matcha or pretty purple taro latte.
The Chef has designed a solid menu of delicious options with something for everyone. All their desserts are made onsite, including their ice creams and sorbets which use fresh seasonal ingredients to ensure they are high quality and packed full of flavour.
We found the service to be quick and friendly, with the owner being present at the front of house and making sure no one was left waiting when they arrived. All of their desserts are priced between $13-16, which we felt was fantastic value for money, plus they offer a couple of savory dishes just in case you don’t want to eat dessert on an empty stomach!
We tried 5 different desserts and my two faves were: Lemon & lime tart – meringue, lime crisps, white chocolate ganache, vanilla crumble, coconut ice cream ; and
Caramel & chocolate dome – fresh berries, crystallised walnuts, raspberry brownie, raspberry coulis, warm salted caramel sauce, salted caramel ice cream You pour the jug of warm sauce over the dome and watch it melt away to reveal a light raspberry and chocolate brownie topped with a scoop of ice cream. The salted caramel, chocolate and ice cream meld together to form a glorious gooey, sweet shiny sticky mess that tastes amazing with the brownie and is punctuated perfectly by the fresh raspberries.
We loved the range of options, the presentation and execution of everything we tried. We were also impressed with the standard of the coffee, which can sometimes let dessert restaurants down. We also love that their desserts, ice creams and sorbets are made onsite using top quality, fresh seasonal ingredients.

Read moreI’m always on the lookout for places that not only satisfy a sweet tooth but also elevate dessert to an art form. My recent visit to Dessert by Night in Springvale left me truly impressed.
First, the sticky date pudding. It was simply sublime. The pudding itself was perfectly moist, with a rich, caramelized sweetness that wasn’t overpowering. What really stood out to me was the balance—the date flavor was present, but subtle, letting the warmth of the butterscotch sauce shine through. Paired with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, the contrast of hot and cold was the perfect ending to each bite.
Next up were the strawberry crêpes, and they were nothing short of delightful. The crêpes were paper-thin and soft, yet had just the right amount of bite to hold together a filling of fresh, juicy strawberries. The sweetness of the strawberries paired beautifully with the light dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of strawberry sauce. Every bite was refreshing, light, and full of flavor. This is exactly how a dessert should feel—balanced and not too heavy.
Finally, the banana and walnut hotcake was a revelation. The texture of the hotcake was spot on—fluffy and tender, with a nice crispness on the edges. The bananas, caramelized to perfection, added a lovely richness, while the walnuts gave it that necessary crunch. The drizzle of maple syrup brought it all together, making each bite a harmony of sweet, nutty, and fruity goodness.
Dessert by Night exceeded my expectations with these dishes. The flavors were well-executed, the textures were spot on, and the overall experience was one that any chef—or dessert lover—would appreciate. If you’re in Springvale and looking for a place that truly respects the art of dessert, this spot should be at the top...
Read morePositives: service, pancakes, milkshakes.
Negatives: the toppings fell off the pancakes, for reference it’s served in a small skillet and cutting board, I was attempting to eat the waffles and had to scoop toppings of the table and eat the pancakes first, how ever this was a blessing in disguise for I did not have to eat the mess that was the velvet waffles first, I was taken back by the serving size of the pancakes as the portion size was for a toddler and served on a toddler sized skillet and cutting board, I’m still going to the pancake parlour 9 times out of 10, I get full sized portions and a bigger enough plate to house my adult sized pancakes 🤣
The red velvet waffle was a bit all over the place flavour wise not a fan of it, would not recommended it, as it was a disaster. Another thing that grinds my gears is my waffle had three pieces to it, clearly missing a corner 1/4 that’s a violation, I paid 19 dollars I want the whole waffle 🧇 now if I sell my car I don’t remove a wheel and tell the person buying it bad luck, should of read the fine print.
The 2 stars are fair from my stand point some improvements can be made, the velvet waffle needs work when combing the flavours into one bite it’s a big no, the pancakes need a larger skillet due to the fact the toppings fall off and I don’t enjoy scooping toppings of my table still delicious 🤤
I’m the most devious bulker known to man and all I can say is I’m disappointed, failed to finish the red velvet waffle, due to the fact I was feeling how a transgender feels concerning there gender,...
