With only 5 tables inside and everyone in the know flocking to this place, you must either come during non-peak or just be prepared to wait. Service is polite and efficient, and for the sake of those waiting, eat up and free up a table.

The pastry sandwich with egg and Chinese doughnut was perfection. Crispy and airy Chinese doughnut and egg sandwiched between a crusty and soft pastry sandwich - simple but delicious! Pro tip - pair it with the spicy broad bean paste for a flavour boost.

I loved the deep and bold flavours of the Taiwanese Baso rice aka lu rou fan. The braised pork was tender and juicy, and the slight sweetness of the pork was balanced out by the sour and piquant preserved veggies. Topped off with half a hard-boiled egg and this was comfort food at its finest.

Of course, I had to order a bowl of savoury soy milk. I love sweet but when it comes to soy milk, I'm all for the savoury version. It can be an acquired taste and it can look unappetizing but don't let these fool you. Pro tip 2 - add a splash of chilli oil and red vinegar to bring out the best of the savoury flavour, and always paired it with fresh crunchy Chinese doughnut!

The soy milk here, both sweet and savoury, weren't the best, but were well above average. A pity as otherwise this meal would have...

An amazing Taiwanese eatery in Springvale. The restaurant itself is quite small with only 4 small tables inside. Pictures of the menu items are displayed on the wall outside the restaurant. Ordering is done by marking a plastic sheet with a whiteboard marker. The service is polite and efficient. The food here is best described as comforting, delicious and homely. The braised pork with rice was a highlight. The pork pieces were deliciously tender and the sauce coated each grain of steaming hot rice deliciously. The beef soup was also extremely flavourful though some of the beef pieces were a little tough. The soup dumplings were simply amazing and I particularly enjoyed the tender chew of the wrapping. The soy drink melded the meal together nicely.

To top everything off the serving sizes were great for her price! Overall an incredible feast and the perfect breakfast meal on...

Taiwanese streetfood favs 🇹🇼

Remarkable hole in the wall kitchen that manages to churn out an amazing array of authentic Taiwanese streetfood fare - fried pork buns, rice rolls, fried cruellers, pork cutlet rice, beef noodles, soya bean milk (even the rare savoury version).

Family-run with the chef (dad) touting numerous national cooking awards. Their food is cooked to order and consistently hits the spot. They also have a wde variety of pastries native to their homeland available over the counter.

These are earnest folks flying their heritage high and proud. Huge props to these culinary champs!

Update: Store under new management since Q2 2023. Old master has gone and alas, so has the food standard. Leaving this review up as a fond memory...

A friend wanted to have Taiwanese breakfast so we went. I don’t know much about the Taiwanese breakfast. I had half of a sticky rice ball, Chinese donut and the sweet soy milk. The soy milk was good. The donut didn’t seem to be very fresh. It’s cold. It’s crispy but the skin was hard and it’s a bit oily. Again the diced donut inside the rice ball was pretty hard but the rice ball was warm. My friend said that she was expecting preserved radish 菜脯inside the rice ball instead of pickled mustard 榨菜. She also had an egg panfried roll with Chinese donut but not to her expectation. There are lot more of other dishes on the menu and other customers seemed to enjoy their orders.
