1st Visit
I recently visited East End Wine Bar with my colleagues, and we had a great time trying out various items from their menu. We sampled Bella Pizza, Tatey Pizza, and Millie Pizza, along with an assorted platter (can't recall the exact name). While the pizzas were decent, the standout for me was the Sweet Sunil. This dessert option was absolutely delightful, and being a fan of sweets, I really enjoyed it. Overall, a fun experience with good food options, especially the Sweet Sunil dessert.
*2nd Visit
I recently visited East End Wine Bar with my team for a farewell lunch, and overall, the experience was pleasant with a few notable hiccups.
The ambiance of the wine bar is charming and cozy, especially during lunch hours when it’s quieter. The candle-lit tables and walls lined with bottles create a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal or a gathering with friends.
As a vegetarian, I ordered the Tattey and Bella Pizza along with a Schweppes lime soda on the side. The pizza was delicious, with a well-balanced flavor and a satisfying crust. The lime soda was a refreshing accompaniment to the meal.
However, our experience was marred by a significant mistake. The server brought us a Pork pizza instead of the Tattey pizza I had ordered. Despite asking multiple times to confirm the pizza, we were repeatedly assured it was the Tattey pizza. It was only after we had started eating that we realized the error. This oversight was particularly distressing as a vegetarian.
To anyone planning to visit, I would recommend enjoying the lovely atmosphere and tasty food but also advise being very clear and assertive about your order. Double-checking with the staff about what you’ve received can help avoid any mix-ups, especially for those with dietary...
Read moreI want to start by saying that I’ve always enjoyed East End Wine Bar. It’s a great local spot for us, and the food and atmosphere have never been an issue. This review is not about the restaurant itself, but specifically about my recent experience with the manager, Dave.
Last night, we held farewell drinks here as we often do. Early in the evening, when the venue wasn’t busy, I ordered a glass of the house Shiraz from a lovely waitress. After taking a sip, I noticed something wasn’t right with the wine and asked a friend to taste it as well, he agreed. I went back to the bar and politely explained this to the waitress, who was kind and ready to assist.
However, before she could even respond, Dave stepped in, took the glass from her, and told me in a very dismissive tone that “nothing is wrong with this wine.” He didn’t smell it, didn’t taste it, and interrupted me when I tried to explain further. He rolled his eyes, poured me another wine without asking what I would prefer, and made me feel as though I was being unreasonable, when in fact, I had hardly touched the glass (it was almost full) and had simply asked with courtesy for help.
I’ve worked in hospitality myself for many years, and I know how important it is to treat customers with respect, even when situations are inconvenient. What disappointed me most wasn’t the wine, but the unnecessary attitude and rudeness. Dave’s behaviour overshadowed what is usually a wonderful experience at this venue, and it left me feeling like I didn’t deserve the same level of care as other guests.
I hope Dave reflects on this, as his approach risks affecting customers’ experiences at what is otherwise a...
Read moreScene of many a cheese plate and very delicious pizza. The food menu here is limited but adequate and ultimately the right decision, it is after all, supposed to be about the wine.
I enjoyed a pimms as our cheese plate was prepared. Unfortunately they had run out of the baked Camembert but the French triple cream Brie was utterly sensational. Definitely a must order. The accompanying quince paste and balsamic glaze drizzled bread proved the perfect pairing.
There is a decent variety of pizzas and we chose to try the lamb with mint, yoghurt and smoked cheese. These was a really tasty treat and the base itself very well made. My other favourite was the potato, garlic and rosemary. While simple this was very well executed.
A few mix ups with the order but very friendly staff. We finished with the dessert pizza which is a peanut butter, chocolate delight topped with ice cream. This was basically like crunchy PB toast, equal parts comforting and indulgent. A brilliant addition...
