Firstly, the food was delicious and good quality, so no complaint. But .. it was our first meal out since COVID-19, and I'm not convinced that this restaurant has entirely embraced the required changes. On entry, the space was congested with another group standing near the reception desk making social distancing awkward.
My greatest concern is related to the unsanitised touch points. The menu cover and each page within are plastic-covered; however, I winessed the waitstaff using one cloth to wipe down multiple menus, and only the outside covers, at that. The process is a token gesture, and IMO, a seemingly pointless exercise. If this bothers you, I'd suggest that you use your smartphone to view the online menu.
Another uncomfortable moment was when a seemingly communal pen and folder were thrust into the hands of my companion to record the mandatory contact details. A suggested best practice would be for a staff member to record the information.
A meal was incorrectly delivered to our table, but then later whisked away to the correct patrons. This error/process, which I think was never a good practice, is now unacceptable and should not happen.
Yes, there were multiple bottles of hand sanitiser placed near the restaurant entrance, but I'd be more comfortable if there was one placed on each table.
In summary, though the food was tasty, perhaps in this new COVID-19 era I'm just not ready...
Read moreWent to a birthday where they booked a table of 20. 3 guests did not show and they moved away one of our tables and forced a shuffle, can live with that. Then they told us they didn't split bills, ok so made sure that the 6 families all ordered on separate dockets to ensure no bill stuff ups. After we had all paid what we had been asked to pay and guest had left they approached us and said the money was short. After half an hour of phone call and asking everyone what they had and going through the money that had been paid, they said we were short even though everyone had paid for what they had eaten and some had tipped! I was disgusted with how they threw the calculator and bill on our table and expect us to work it out after we had made it easy by ordering on separate dockets and everyone paid for their dockets. I then had an argument with the owner who found it all to hard and said well for $13.50 don't worry about it sarcastically. I assume that the counter girl hard given the wrong change by mistake to someone and that's why there was a difference as he assured me that the money had not gone in the till. Also watch out for the $5 corkage per bottle, and they didn't un cork it or even pour it into a glass??? Food was 6/10 will never go back, have been at least 8 time in three years food quality has never changed!!! Try Aahn Thai on the main street never had a bad...
Read moreRecently purchased a take away order from here after reading the Google reviews, which upon review are mostly positive for sit in service. Our meal experience was terrible. We had the most floury revolting green curry chicken. If you enjoy carrot and chicken mixed into a lumpy thick trying to be a white curry sauce then by all means you’ll love it. The red curry beef had the smell you get when passing by a butcher shop, (which could have indicated freshness) however it was enough to put me off even trying it. My husband described this as bland, watery and undercooked. No complaints regarding the coconut rice and the peanut satay sauce, it was nice and all I ended up eating. The roti were stuck together in a sweaty plastic container. The satay chicken sticks were fatty with a jelly like consistency. The overuse of plastic containers was concerning. No chopsticks. Extremely hard to order with limited English call takers. Maybe we’ve been spoiled with our usual cuisine of Thai at Thai Tables in Baysie. If you’d never eaten Thai before you’d never eat it again after those two dishes. For just shy of $80 for two people I’d give...
