Excelsior Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Live locally and have visited the Excelsior Hotel with friends neighbours and family on a monthly basis for dinner howevrr have had my last meal there . Booked Xmas in July and the meal was very average no crackle gravy was cold and vegies also cold and absolutely no planning was put into this event by the venue. Not sure why people had to book to attend as we had booked confirmed our booking yet on arrival they could no find our booking Visied again last Thursday 18/8 with a booking for 4 same thing confiirmed our booking no record of the booking. We all ordered our meal together only 2 meals come out the other 2 meals came out 15 minutes later. Orders were 2x Parmas 1×Fish and Chip 1x Graziers pie Pie was returned over cooked and base was burnt. Finished our meals table cleared 20mins later a number of staff present however definately no customer service waitressing training. After our meal proceeded to the TAB only to have all screns turned off at 9.30pm with no announcement that screens were to be turned off with a tixket for a race that i had a bet on coming up. When questioned i was told to go to the end of the gaming room which had no social distancning and was a very crowded area . In summing up staff are rude chef needs more training meals are less than average and the venue is run...

Review Edit... I attended this establishment for the second time only to be disappointed again and I will never return. DO NOT ATTEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT unless you like you like rubber chicken and staff who do not know the basic principles of customer service....I have come here again, giving this place another chance (why did I bother) I ordered a drink and was told by the bar tender they will bring my drink over...after 5 minutes a different bar tender came over to question what drink I ordered...she then proceeded to tell me that THEY made a mistake and I would need to go back to the bar to get it fixed up and then I have to pay extra money because of the mistake THEY made because the drink I ordered (which they messed up on) cost $2 more. Are you actually serious. The manager, pathetically did nothing to fix the situation other than to reiterate that I had to pay the extra money for their mess up. What an absolute joke... Management should know better!

I am currently here right now... enjoyed a great meal...service and food was great...I bought a drink and took it back too my table...and then stood up to go to the restroom...I accidentally spilt the drink all over the table and and all over myself... obviously it was my fault but any other place would have replaced it but not this...

We had a booking for 20 last night and were very underwhelmed With children on our table we were sat directly at doors that lead to a smoking area so everytime someone walked in or out of that area the clouds of smoke consumed our area so as to the reason why that area comes straight off your bistro is crazy to me it’s disgusting. Staff were overwhelmed with not enough on and not being able to keep up which made them rude unaware of what was going on and snappy Schnitzels are cooked in bulk and left in trays just to grill when Parmas are ordered so they come out with hot cheese but a soggy cold schnitzel underneath. Soup was cold and when we requested tomato sauce for the kids meal that arrived with none and also the gravy that hadn’t arrived with another meal the waitress who brought them out had the just plopped on top of another persons meal and then when she almost dropped it she quickly plopped that meal in front of another person who was holding a baby and got knocked by the plate and the she proceeded with her bare hands to take the tomato sauce Satchets and gravy off another persons meal to hand out whilst touching another persons food Went to order coffee and you couldn’t even get light milk

Venue is lovely, food was mostly good but only deserving of 3 stars...
