Falafel House — Restaurant in Melbourne

We were looking forward to going here but as soon as we walked in things went from bad to worse - I ordered a hoummous and mince meat dish which they had a picture of on their main board. I had to repeat myself 5-6 times as the person serving us didn't understand English and then I thought they had got the order right as the owners wife was standing there. Sat down and waited for the meal to come and the dish arrived with yoghurt and mince meat all mixed together. No sign of chickpeas. I thought I would try it since they had made it and I am pregnant and was starving - but it was disgusting! One of the worst things I have ever tasted in my life. We had to go to the owner three times before she agreed we didn't actually get what we ordered and that I wasn't paying for the take away dish and they argued back trying to convince us it was what we ordered and fought back with us. Really bad customer service. I will not be going back there again. We did get an apology at the end from another staff member and do appreciate that but the one with long hair who was apparently was the owners wife was really rude and didn't apologise once. I am a big fan of Lebanese food and was very disappointed with this experience.

My colleague who recommended the place used to go all the for hoummous and falafel (under the old management) but the new management has disappointed and now he refuses to go.

Came in with my family to eat today and was disappointed in the service. It took 25-30 minutes to bring out our food, and when we were enquired we were told it was on the grill. Then when it came out we were missing one of the meat choices which we were told after waiting for 30 minutes that it had run out and was unavailable. If we had known during our order that it was unavailable, we would have chosen differently but we were never given that option.

They did apologise several times, which we were grateful for. But the wait, coupled with the food not being quite what we were expecting, and also finding our meat wasn't quite cooked all the way through, it was a disappointing experience. Not to mention all of the flies.

This is a shame because our family has been here several times before with the old management and quite enjoyed it. Hopefully the new a management will take on board the feedback and refine their service, because it would have made a world of difference to our experience.

No offer of compensation for the meal or the wait. This would help to endear customers and make them want to come back. Not worth the $95 we spent today...

I recently visited Falafel House, and it was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The falafel was stale, and everything tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The place was disgustingly dirty, with grime in every corner. But the worst part was the staff's attitude. They were incredibly rude and seemed annoyed to even take my order. It was clear that the owner (a lady named Betty) only cares about making money, not about providing decent food or service. She was more interested in chatting on her phone than ensuring customers were happy. She was also touching her hair then handling food! Save yourself the disappointment and avoid this place. There are plenty of other options on Sydney rd where you'll get better food, cleaner surroundings, and staff who actually care...
