Fowkner Kebab provides a culinary experience marked by flavorful and delicious food. The positive aspect primarily centers around the taste and quality of their offerings. The menu showcases a variety of mouthwatering options that undoubtedly cater to the taste buds.
However, the overall dining experience is marred by several notable drawbacks. Firstly, the service falls short of expectations, exhibiting a lack of professionalism and efficiency. The inadequately trained staff contribute to this issue, creating an atmosphere that lacks the seamless and attentive service one would expect.
Another concern is the occasional delay in food delivery. This can be frustrating for patrons, as prompt service is a key aspect of a satisfying dining experience. The management should address this issue to enhance customer satisfaction.
Hygiene and cleanliness also emerge as significant issues. The observation that the place is "literally dirty" raises questions about the establishment's commitment to maintaining a sanitary environment. Furthermore, the proximity of food storage to seating areas is a cause for concern, as it may compromise the overall cleanliness and safety standards of the restaurant.
Despite these drawbacks, the redeeming factor is the undeniable deliciousness of the food. It's evident that the culinary offerings are the highlight of Fowkner Kebab, earning them some stars in this review. However, for the establishment to truly shine, improvements in service, staff training, timely food delivery, and hygiene standards...
Read more3 years ago, this used to be the busiest shop on Bonwick Street and on afternoons the shop would be completely full. When you walked in, there was a guy who was dressed up like a professional chef doing the cooking, and his wife (I believe) who was very welcoming and talkative to the customers. Most importantly, the food was of a high standard, probably one of the best kebab shops in Melbourne. They even made lentil soup and it was a very welcoming environment.
For the last year (approximately) new people have worked there, and although they are nice enough and try their best and undoubtedly work very hard, the quality of the food has fallen and the shop is often empty. The bread is usually dried or burnt, if it hasn't completely broken apart. The salad is also dried out, the sauce is usually in big blobs, and you end up with a kebab that does not taste nice. Additionally, the chicken/lamb is nowhere near as good as it used to be, it often has bits of fat (that you might decide to spit out), it tastes like you are eating something very dodgy, and they usually leave it sitting at the bottom and don't cut it off when you order.
I hope the previous owners are doing well, and there is plenty of potential for the...
Read moreStaff was pleasant but one lady at the counter. Ordered food for us. Order wasn't completely served and we were somehow managed in the served food. Left the place and went to another because order was taking too much and mind you we were the first customers in morning. I have seen other comments also "owner" tries to taunt everyone with dialogues. Instead of posting nonsense and impolite counter responses, improve the service. Wouldn't recommend this place to my acquaintance.
Reply: now you are telling a big and blatant lie. We ordered 3 omelets, 8 parathas, 2 paye and 1 lassi for us and we got 3 omlets, 5 parathas and 1 paya and we got this after 20 mins and we never got the rest of order only 3 paratha were served. And then we ordered another lassi which we got. I have gone through your reviews and you say this to all customers that o you ordered very less for 3, 4 guys. We support by visiting businesses and placing orders. And when we place order we expect to receive that. Why would we come back to support this business if you start lying instead of improving...
