Fish And Chips House — Restaurant in Melbourne

Heard good things about the new owners and new menu so thought I would give this place a try.

Ordered the grilled salmon fish and chips combo (small). Chips were bland with no seasoning. Fish was dry and had no flavour. Also it took them 30+ minutes for them to prepare the food despite it not being too busy (1 other customer).

Quite expensive for the quality and quantity. There are much better option available on the bonwick strip for a fraction of the price.

Customer service also needs some work. The staff declined my request for a plate so I could share the food with my wife for no apparent reason. They did offer me a pair of a fork and knife though.

The seating area is basic but does the job. Nothing too fancy.

Overall, would not come back or recommend this place to my friends or family. There are much better places to eat in Fawkner...

Overall a very good experience.

Probably a little bit more expensive than some of the others in Fawkner, but that just means it's on par with the rest of Melbourne. And unlike the other local joints, they didn't throw in any extras, which is fine. Its a privilege, not a right. But worth mentioning.

Piece of flake - good size, good flavour, but not the freshest bit of fish. Dimmy was a nice golden colour, standard dimmy inside. Excellent potato cake. Fresh, crispy, salty. Chips were well above average. I'm not the biggest fan of thick cut chips, but these were something special. Crunchy, crispy, and well seasoned.

I also like that they have the small chips option. "Minimum chips" should be a thing of the past.

This is definitely in the top 2 F & C shops in Fawkner. If the fish was just the slightest bit fresher, it would easily...

This is a higher quality fish n chip shop compared to others in the area. It's prices are a little higher, but the quality is much better than its competitors.

Edit: after being here may times again the burgers here are some of the best I have ever had anywhere. I also don't agree with the negative reviews that say there's better fish n chips in Fawkner. Most other food outlets in Fawkner are unclean and very old. This is the new...
