Discovering the Best of Turkish Cuisine at Galata Kebab and Grill If you're looking for an authentic Turkish dining experience in Melbourne, Galata Kebab and Grill is the perfect destination. Established in 1994, this restaurant has been pushing the boundaries of traditional Turkish cuisine and setting new standards in quality and taste. Galata's menu features a wide range of 100% halal dishes, including succulent kebabs, juicy grilled meats, and savory wraps, all cooked to perfection. But what really sets Galata apart is its in-house bakery, which produces fresh and delicious bread that complements the dishes perfectly. One of the standout dishes at Galata is the mixed grill platter, which offers a generous serving of tender lamb and chicken skewers, adana kebab, and more. The lamb and chicken is marinated to perfection and cooked over an open flame, resulting in a juicy and flavorful meat that melts in your mouth. Another must-try dish is the classic doner kebab, served in a fresh wrap with a generous amount of tender meat, fresh salad, and creamy sauce. The portion sizes are very generous, and the prices are quite reasonable, making Galata a great value for money. In addition to the delicious food, the service at Galata is also excellent. The friendly and attentive staff are always ready to assist you with your orders and make sure you have a great dining experience. Overall, Galata Kebab and Grill is a gem in the Melbourne food scene, and a must-visit for anyone who loves Turkish cuisine. So, if you're in the area, be sure to stop by and indulge in some of the best kebabs and grilled meats you'll ever taste!

I came about 3 consecutive times here for a quick lunch cause I only have half hour break from my part time job next door so I always order Mixed kids meal cause I don’t have much time to finish big meal. The first time I ordered from the counter the lady that took my order is beautiful and lovely I asked her to put lemon vinaigrette on top and she did and I loved that first meal. The second time I order I asked the male staff to put the same he just said ok when I received my order, it was tasteless he didn’t bother to put the lemon sauce I didn’t worry. The 3rd time I order I asked the lady wait staff wearing coin earrings if I can please have a slice of lemon and she said sure. I waited while I started eating as my break time is running. She walk slow everywhere like she’s busy, she come to people with bigger orders and give what they want as I observed. I finished my meal and no lemon slice arrived, she came to me and said do you still want lemon slice? And I showed my about to empty plate, she said ‘fake’ sorry I forgot with a blank expression without sincerity not even looking. Is it because I only ordered a kids meal that’s why you can’t give a slice of lemon? 0 customer service to wait staff. 🤮

OK, so another hard one to review... Hard because when it comes to Turkish food, we are spoiled in our local area. We have some of the best in the state, let alone the country. The food was OK at best with the shish very dry. Serving portions were OK and the dips themselves were quite nice. Bread was fresh and food came out pretty quickly. The service was really interesting as the young servers were polite and doing their best, but I reckon I counted 6 instances of dropped plates, cutlery, etc. The other really annoying thing is, that obviously this place is the best Turkish in the area and as a result it was packed (according to my local mate this is the case every night), which meant that there is a queue of people starting from inside the restaurant to outside all hovering close to our table and giving you a greasy stair basically telling you to hurry up. We never felt comfortable at our table. We only came here as our local friend invited us for dinner. There are plenty of better choices in Melbourne, but I can see the local appeal!

Wish I could rate this place much higher than 3 starts. The positive is that the food is actually very good and doesn't take too long to be brought to the table. Also, they don't appear to have an issue splitting the bill. These points are the only reason why I didn't give 2 stars or less.

The downsides...... the entry door. It's so heavy. If you have any type of arm injury, please let someone else open it or risk hurting yourself further. when you enter and ask to be seated, you're told to sit anywhere except where tables are already reserved. This isn't an issue until later on. Also, if you try to call to make a reservation, it's highly unlikely that the phone will be answered. I tried multiple times over the course of 3 days and the phone was never answered. wait staff are either genuinely unhappy being at work or simply don't care. They'll take your order and give the bare minimum in terms of interaction. you have to get your own drinks. Again, this doesn't become an issue until later on. I made the mistake of looking at the menu on the board that showed my meal as $22. I didn't open the menu because everything was on the board. Or so I thought. when it came time to pay and leave, we needed to go to the counter. Again, not an issue. based on what i ordered (chicken meal and one can of coke), I was expecting my total to be around $26. My total came to $39.50! I queried it by saying that the board said $22 for the meal. They told me that that was the takeaway price, dine-in was $36 - for the exact same meal! What I'd like to know is what did the extra $14 cover? Table service? It was non-existent. A glass for the drink that I had to go and get from the fridge myself? There wasn't one. The staff didn't even ask if the meal was ok. These are things that a place that is charging extra for table service would do. This extra charge on top of the meal is a cash grab. And a bad one at that.

I'm disappointed to say that I drove nearly an hour to meet up with friends, and whilst the food was good admittedly, everything else was less than satisfactory. It's a place I would have considered coming back to again with my family, but the 35-40% mark up for dining in and the lacklustre presentation of the wait staff is enough to tell me that I'm not...

Came here for a birthday dinner, left very disappointed and extremely unsatisfied. There's a lot to unpack, however, I will try to keep it short and simple for those reading.

• Food took a very long time to arrive - of course, being at full capacity means wait times are longer than usual, though this should be accounted for when booking-out the restaurant. • $50 for a mixed platter is asking for a lot, especially given the meat is simple doner kebab meat. The adana was extremely salty, and quite average to be honest. The food is no different to a standard kebab shop (like ones selling the premium steak-lamb meat). • The serving in the mixed platter was quite average for the price. For $50, you'd expect a little bit more. The menu also mentions "cutlets", being plural (more than 1). However, all of the mixed platters that came out, only came with ONE cutlet. Perhaps consider removing the "s", making it plural. Disappointing. • The rice was extremely dry, and tasteless. • The meat was nice, though overall it was a bit dry.

The atmosphere was interesting, it's just a fancier version of a kebab shop. The prices are not reasonable, especially for how average the food is, though, I suppose rent in such a location and proximity of CS Square would be through the roof.

If you're looking for better quality food, perhaps try Kartel Kebabs in Deer Park. I wouldn't consider coming back to Galata, given their...
