Ordered on a busy night at 7:45, paid over $60. Was told by staff member it would take 1 1/2hours. Fair enough, very busy. Left phone number, correctly, saw the girl write it down, correctly. Messy writing, but figured she’d be able to read her own writing. 9:15 pm, still no phone call or message. Thought I’d drive down, see where it’s up to. Place was shut. Sign on door says it closed at 8:30! Banged on doors for a few minutes until the manager (I presume) opened up, he was still cleaning up the back. He said, “we tried to call you, you must have given us the wrong number”. I didn’t. I said I saw the girl write it down on the receipt. I showed him my phone. No calls, no messages. He said, “it’ll be fine, it’s been kept hot”. For 45 minutes? Yeah right. The fish was tasty. Not great, only because it wasn’t fresh... The chips, etc however, was like eating pieces of old rubber thongs cut up into strips. They’d probably been sitting there for 45 minutes. Disgusting! Tasted awful too. The worst part? No apology. No attempt to make things right. He only made me feel like I’d done the wrong thing. Like it was my fault. When in reality, I ordered, paid the money, left my correct phone number, waited for the time I was told it would take, and the business stuffed up. Never again....

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. This "seafood" joint is the culinary equivalent of a crime scene. The fish was so soggy it could have doubled as a sponge. I've seen better seafood in a school cafeteria—and that's not a compliment.
The chips? Don't even get me started. I don't know who taught them how to fry potatoes, but I’m pretty sure they were using a 1980s microwave oven. Tasteless, limp, and sad. I could have eaten a bag of gravel and probably had a better texture experience.
As for the service? Let's just say I felt more welcomed by the flies buzzing around than the staff. The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by letting us order, and when we asked about the specials, she looked at us like we asked her to solve world peace. Unbelievable.
And the atmosphere? If you ever wondered what a rundown fish-and-chip shop in the 90s looks like, George's Seafood has you covered. The décor is a mix of stale grease and desperation. I half expected a rat to bring me my drink, which honestly would have been the highlight of the evening.

Read moreGeorge's Seafood of Rosebud is an absolute gem for seafood lovers! This charming spot offers some of the freshest and most delicious seafood I’ve ever tasted.
The fish and chips are a must-try—crispy, golden batter with tender, flaky fish inside. The prawns and scallops are also incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection with just the right seasoning. I especially loved their seafood platter, which had a fantastic variety of grilled and fried options, all bursting with flavor.
The service was friendly and welcoming, with staff happy to recommend their daily specials. The prices are reasonable for the quality, and the portions are generous. Whether you're dining in or taking away, the food is consistently excellent.
If you're in Rosebud and craving top-notch seafood, George's Seafood is the place to go. Highly recommended!
