What to know before you go šŸ‘‡šŸ½ This family-friendly beach is one of the best spots on the Mornington Peninsula for little ones—just 1 hour from Melbourne and packed with things to do! But before you head off, here’s what you need to know: āœ… Check the tides! Rosebud Beach is best at low tide when the sandbars create calm, shallow pools—perfect for kids to splash safely! Use the Tides AU app to plan your visit. šŸš— Parking: It gets busy, and most parking is limited to 1-2 hours, so plan ahead or park a little further and enjoy a scenic walk along the foreshore. šŸ¦ Food & drinks: Ice cream, pizza, coffee, and fish & chips—everything you need, or pack a picnic or bbq! šŸ› Playgrounds & facilities: The new beachside playground near the pier is one of the best on the peninsula! There’s also BBQs, toilets, picnic areas, and even a skate park nearby. 🐶 Dog-friendly: Off-leash dog area from 7pm-9am during daylight savings. Rosebud Beach stretches 9km and is protected by offshore sandbars, making it a safe swimming spot for young families. Lifeguards patrol on weekends & public holidays in summer. Plus, there are accessible ramps, a boardwalk, and the iconic Rosebud Pier for a scenic stroll! Make a day of it—swim, play, grab a bite, and enjoy one of Melbourne’s most family-friendly beaches! This is a perfect family beach with shallow water and sandy shore. Young kids can go far and the depth of the water is still around knee of adults. I come here because you can see pipi shells and little fish. Great learning opportunities for kids to see and touch them in person. I’m sure you can’t take anything alive from the beach but a lot of families can experience little ocean living things. As water is shallow, the temperature is very good to. I never feel cold when it’s over 30 degrees. Kids’ lips never become bluešŸ™‚ A lot of restaurants and local shops and stores around. We just love visiting this beach. Very calm, quiet and clean beach where you can find everything you need for a family. Just little longer drive from where I live but worth it! Parking seems easy for us (or it was a pure luck!) and it’s free!

Like many beaches on the Mornington Peninsula, Rosebud beach is one of the family and kid-friendly beaches in the area. There are plenty of shallow areas where kids, even toddlers can dip their tows pretty safely. Plus there is a big playground which kids definitely love. There is also a beachside walking track which you can use for cycling, walking or for prams/wheelchairs. There is a toilet block nearby.

You can catch some awesome vistas of the rosebud town from the pier especially at sunset. At times, you might get luck and see seals swimming in the ocean nearby.

If you stick around till the sunset, you will get some amazing sunset shades here. Overall, a nice place to bring young kids and enjoy a mini...

This is my most favourite beach in all of Victoria.

The water is so clear and beautiful that it feels as though you are on a tropical island.

It’s safe for kids; the kids I was travelling with were able to play independently with supervision quite a distance in, as the water was so shallow.

There are lots of pretty seashells you can take home as well, and it’s not a very crowded beach...
