We had an excellent dinner experience at Haidilao. Despite it being our first time trying Haidilao, the waiters were patient and understanding, helping us set up our table as well as explain how to use the tablet to order our food. We were also there to celebrate a birthday, to which they catered to our requests very nicely, singing a birthday song, and giving some cute freebies (toys and snacks) to the birthday girl.
The atmosphere was bright and lively, with some performances through the night, the most entertaining being the hand-pulled noodles dance, as not only did we get to enjoy an entertaining performance, but we also tasted some delicious hand-made noodles, which had a nice bouncy and chewy texture.
Additionally, we tried the tomato soup base and tom yum soup base, both of which were delicious, and as for the dishes, some of our personal favourites include the fried steamed bun with condensed milk, deep fried milk, shrimp paste, and octopus. Unfortunately, the fortune gold bag was rather disappointing. There were lots of free snacks on offer, both outside and inside Haidilao, as well as a free sauce station, and free dessert (self-serve ice and jelly section), which was a nice addition to our meal.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Haidilao, and though prices were a bit on the pricy side - as expected - the excellent service, as well as the performances and freebies throughout the night made up...
Read moreHai di Lao in Glen Waverley was full of people waiting outside the restaurant when we got there. Despite the fact we have booked the table, we didn’t manage to get into the restaurant till 25 mins later. Definitely not the best dining experience one can get from this restaurant. We were told to order certain amount of food since we were given a room. The food was served 10 mins after we have seated. It started slow but the rest of the food were quickly served soon after and we run out of spaces on the table. They charged additional charges for the dipping sauce, the amount charged per head would include over 20 types of ingredients to make various sauce. There were tidbits like peanuts, marinated mushroom and bamboo shoots, fruits and desserts included as well. I must admit the superior chicken soup was the best amongst all the soups offered. It is very tasty for the hot pot. The meat served were fresh and of good quality too. The room acoustic was really bad though as we have to shut in order to talk to others across the room. I am not sure seated in the room was a good idea. The waiters are so busy with other tables, it was hard to catch their attention too. Due to the amount imposed by the restaurant, we ordered lots of food and we were so full by the end of the night. I think I probably would not have hot pot for a long time to recover from this. Hai Di Lao GW definitely need to improve...
