Decided to go to Kuhn Thai as they make a very bold statement on their window - "Best Tom Yum in Melbourne".

I've seen that it's usually busy, but, when we got there, there was one table available, so we got seated straight away and got given water and menus.

We ordered a Chicken Tom Yum, a Chicken Pud Thai, and a Steamed Barramundi in Coconut Milk Red Curry + Rice.

Where do I start...

The Tom Yum was absolutely fantastic - packed with flavour, filled with lots of chicken. They just had it right - that soup was amazing.

My steamed Barramundi was out of this world - I haven't had such a tasty seafood dish in a long time! And it was a huge serving - I couldn't finish it. That coconut red curry was simply divine and it complemented the perfectly-cooked fish really well. I will still try their other ways of cooking the fish (there are around 5-6 options available). Most impressively... this dish is $22 (rice excluded), which is an incredible value for money.

The Pud Thai came a bit later, as per our request. Once again - the consistency of the noodles was great - slightly al dente (often, Pud Thai can be over-cooked), and it was packing so much flavour. It was even presented very nicely.

Overall, after trying out a few Thai joints on Glen Huntly, this is, by far, the very best one of them all and I couldn't recommend it higher.

The reason I didn't give it full 4 stars is simply because the interior leaves a lot to be desired, but you simply forget that once you try their food.

I can't wait to get...

Their deep-fried intestine was a unique appetizer, crispy on the outside while tender and flavorful inside a great start for adventurous eaters. The creamy seafood curry was rich, indulgent, and packed with fresh seafood that melted in your mouth. We also tried their tom yum noodles, although the flavours were a little lighter than what we expected but it has an aroma that whets the appetite as soon as it arrives.

Drinks were just as impressive. I tried both the pink and the classic Thai milk tea, both refreshing and sweet, as well as a delicious cold matcha that balanced well with the heavier dishes.

For mains, the deep-fried barramundi was crispy and well-seasoned, but the star of the meal was definitely the fried rice crab, definitely a must-try! The flavors were spot on, well-balanced, with generous chunks of crab. The portion size was also big, making it perfect for sharing among a group.

Another dish worth mentioning is the kana moo grob. This one is perfect for those who love the combination veggies and crispy pork. The crispy pork skin lived up to its name, with a delightful crunch that didn’t sacrifice the tenderness of the meat inside. Truly, the pork was cooked to perfection!

To finish off, I enjoyed the bua loy, a delightful and creamy dessert that was a nice, light way to end such a filling meal.

On top of the great food, the service was exceptional. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making the dining experience even...

We placed an order for delivery through Uber. The delivery arrived within half an hour but it was the wrong food. I called the restaurant and they said sorry they’ll deliver my food soon. Somebody arrived at my door to pick up the order. They didn’t have my food with them. Half an hour later I called the restaurant again and they said it’s coming. They said that Uber has picked it up and it’s on its way again. 10 minutes later the first person from the restaurant arrived again, without my food and seen surprised that I didn’t have any food but couldn’t tell me why she was at my house. I then said to her apparently the Uber is on its way but I live five minutes away from the restaurant and it had already been 15 minutes. She then said she needed to call the restaurant and when she came off the phone she said please wait another 15 minutes and she will personally come and bring my food to me. Half an hour later there was nothing we went to the restaurant and we told they hadn’t even started preparing it. That was an hour and a half from start to finish.

We have never had such bad service from a takeaway restaurant. They lied repeatedly telling us our order was on our way, they lied when they said that they would bring the order within 15 minutes and if we hadn’t gone to the restaurant we would’ve never have found out they hadn’t even started...

Had the most incredible Thai feast at this newly revamped Thai restaurant in the heart of Elsternwick! 💫 They have seriously some of the best Thai cooking you’ll find in Melbourne - PLUS generous portion sizes and affordable prices! 💸 Their seafood dishes are a MUST-TRY 🌟 - like their massive Deep Fried Whole Barramundi topped with chilli, lime dressing, capsicum and tomato for the perfect balance of sweet and sour 🐟🙌 Another chef recommendation is the Lemon Squid - the FRESHEST steamed squid (with the roe too!) topped with a zingy lemon dressing 🦑🍋 if you’re a fan of squid you’ll definitely LOVE this! Their Thai Fried Rice was also hands down one of the best versions of this dish we’ve tried! 😍 It’s super flavourful and aromatic - highly recommend getting it with Crispy Pork which is so juicy and tender and has that perfectly crispy skin! 🔥 Don’t forget to finish off with Mango Sticky Rice for dessert 🥭 Unlike many other restaurants, they really don’t skimp on the MANGO here! 😍 Fresh juicy chunks of mango combined with the sweet-salty coconut sticky rice is truly a match made in heaven 👏 What we tried: 🫔 Prawn Spring Rolls $13.9 🌟🦑 Lemon Squid $28.9 🌟🐟 Deep Fried Barramundi $38.9 🥥 Creamy Seafood Curry $28.9 🍜 Pad Thai (Seafood) $22.9 🦆 Gang Phet Ped Yang (Thai Duck Curry) $23.9 🌟🍚 Thai Fried Rice (Crispy Pork) $22.9 🌟🥭 Mango Sticky Rice $14.9
