Hawker Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Confusing concept venue. Meals in one half of the divided building. Have to go to the next door bar to order non basic drinks, get a buzzer and come back. Service almost non existent. Staff not staying to sections meant jobs were being frequently missed. Found 3 chatting at the bottom of the stairs rather than doing anything useful on the floor.

Had share food with no share plates provided or serviettes. Meals were handed over counter to circling table bar by Chefs ( The venues heros). Food was great thankfully. Cocktails were a huge waste of money and tasted like watered down rubbish lost under the excessive ice.

Recommended highly for uber eats as no complaints on the food. Winner was the chicken ribs which had perfect flavour and texture. Flavours...

Dropped in for a few drinks with a friend tonight - it’s a hot night.. I’m a semi regular, come with friends often.. but tonight I felt dismissed and staff didn’t care .. I ordered 2 glasses of bubbles.. they were warm although the bottle was opened in front of me.. I took them back and asked if they had chilled glasses and advised the drinks were room temp.. he ran some glasses under a cold tap and poured the remainder of the drinks in - still luke warm and undrinkable.. I took them back and said to the staff I’m leaving these here as they are undrinkable and didn’t even get acknowledgment .. so check your drinks/ bottle people cos they won’t help you if your drinks are...

What a great bar in a great neighbourhood location, pretty much right in the heart of it all on the main street in Highett. We just stopped in for a few beers on a Saturday afternoon. The warm sun was shining through the windows, it felt cosy and as people arrived as the afternoon went on it became quite lively. Happy hour beers on tap made it all the better. Will come back to try food on another day, but for now, it was a really nice way to spend the afternoon...
