Typhoon Vietnamese Street Food — Restaurant in Melbourne

Just a slight warning to any fellow vegans and also anyone with fish/dairy/egg allergies. My family and I ordered from Typhoon for many months as they have quite a few vegan options. On Friday, we went out for dinner there and ordered our usual, requesting vegan options. We then found out that two of our regular dishes could not be made vegan, even though it says VGO on the menu and I have written vegan in the order notes every time. The staff were very polite and sympathetic so I don’t want to denigrate the business but they also clearly had no idea/a lack of communication with the chefs. They’ve given us, what we thought, was a vegan mayonaisse with the eggplant chips for months and we found out the vegan option would be to have it without mayonaisse. We also order the papaya salad VGO weekly and found out it apparently cannot be made vegan as it always has shrimp paste. They said they could substitute it with a Bahn mi vegetarian and without the mayo, yet they both came out with the mayonaisse - this kind of sums up how back and forth the saga was and how they clearly didn’t have good communication and an understanding of their supposed ‘vegan options’. Again, the staff were genuinely apologetic but I have a feeling they won’t rectify the menu and I don’t want this to happen to...

Hi, we were suppose to go this Friday but due to the lockdown from midnight, we went tonight - booking for 2 @ 6pm. Our table was up stairs. Placed our order around 6:15 pm and the entrees were served just after 6:30 pm. Unfortunately, the two tables overlooking the street had about 20+ people, plus the 8 people on the 3 tables on the floor, pretty sure this would be a breach of COVID-19 restrictions for a venue. The party of 20+ were young and loud but that's ok, but social distancing was non existant. The noise from the 2 tables got louder but we tried to ignore it. Around 7:15 pm we were given the bill but we hadn't received our mains yet. Our mains were forgotten and eventually turned up at 7:30 on - the mains were rushed and was just luke warm, not very appealing. We decided to leave as it was getting louder. Extremely disappointed in this place. We specifically said no nuts on our table as 2 of us are allergic to peanuts and we were sharing food. They then proceeded to serve us dishes with nuts and I had an allergic reaction. Fortunately I had only had a mouthful before realising and the other person allergic had not eaten any yet. I was extremely unwell for the rest of the night. What did they do. Not a lot to be honest, i honestly would have thought being that you almost killed to people you would do more then take 2 items off our bill.
