Hellenis — Restaurant in Melbourne

First time here, at what is a local for us. The owner told me it has been here for three years, if only I'd known. What a great meal we had. Being a Greek restaurant, your favourites are there, calamari, lamb skewers, Greek salad, dips and spanakopita but there's also dishes like slow roasted pork shoulder and grilled Atlantic salmon. We had all of the above along with fried saganaki and grilled Halloumi, topped off with a grain salad. Every dish we had was absolutely yummy, especially the pork shoulder, grain salad and the spanakopita. The calamari was so tender and professionally executed, no stringy bits, perfectly cooked and no crusty batters. We decided to go out for a movie and dinner night with some friends and we decided in a greek restaurant. After the movies, we came to Hellenis which I never knew existed. A couple of meat platters arrived, all the meats were well cooked and were very tender. The calamari was great as well. The saganaki was nice but it was too small. Three little fingers were def not enough for the 5 of us. We were deciding on ordering another one but decided against it as we had plenty of food. Usually love the food and service here... very unimpressed this particular day... after asking the server to put my order in first because I was I had to leave early.... and despite that I got mine about 15 mins after everyone else had gotten their third round of sharing plates. He didn't ask if I wanted anything in the mean time, or that it would be later than everyone else's. The eggplant was passable too. Not enough bread to soak up the sauce. Customer service is so important.. and it is what makes the difference in this city where you can find beautiful, affordable food in abundance...
