Gesha Coffee is exactly as its name implies.  A café dedicated to the Gesha varietal of coffee, which originated in Ethiopia. The Gesha varietal, sometimes misspelt as Geisha, boasts some of the most distinctive and complex flavours, and is renowned for its high price tag. Many have defined Gesha coffee as the crown jewel of the coffee world, which has been showcased by World Barista and Brewing Champions over the last decade.

Prominent Café Operator Ken Taing fell in love with these coffees several years ago, and gained prominence in Melbourne’s Coffee scene whilst at Oakroom in Ashburton, and later at Focus Melbourne; a mere stone throw from his new venture on Whitehorse Road.

It’s here that Ken exclusively functions as a conduit between consumers and some of the world’s most exceptional beans, available only in limited quantities. Tight control over each step of harvesting and processing by producers such as Ninety Plus permit such incredible flavour profiles.

It’s at Gesha Coffee that we are afforded the opportunity to experience these rare coffees, sourced from farms in Panama, and Ethiopia. Ken typically has 10 gesha coffees available on his menu on any given day, and brews them via a selection of methods which includes ‘the Siphon’. This theatrical alternative brew method is a complete sensory experience, that presents a clear, crisp, and flavour rich coffee, perfect for a naturally processed Gesha from Panama. I thoroughly enjoyed the Panama Baru from Reformatory, which had an incredibly sweet aroma reminding me of chocolate coated gummy bears. In the cup, its complex plum, ripe cherry, and blackberry flavours were...

Imparting the highest quality of service and professionalism, as well as making the absolute pinnacle of the most sublime and delicious coffees you could ever experience in Melbourne, this infinitely charming coffee shop will inevitably lure you in with it's unique and palpable vibe,as well as offering the most outstanding service and deliciously tasting foods and beverages. Gesha has inevitably become my go to coffee ☕️ shop when I feel the immense need to escape the incessant stresses that life inevitably imparts to me,and be comforted by receiving the most friendly and highly skilled service and being blessed with tasting the most outstanding coffee. The staff that work at Gesha are always so friendly and accommodating and are not averse in going out of their way to put forth the most formidable and highly proficient service with infinite passion, diligence and pertinacity, which in essence is conducive in enhancing as well as elevating an already amazing experience. In conclusion to my review, and in the interest of truth and veracity, if you are in dire need of tasting some of the most outstanding and delicious food and Coffee ☕️ you could ever experience in Melbourne, then I would vehemently encourage that you try Gesha coffee shop for your next coffee ☕️ venture, they truly offer the most unique and highly proficient service, coupled with serving the best and most formidable coffee you will ever experience in Melbourne, simply put, Gesha is one of the best coffee shops in Melbourne, period...

Terrible reply to pay extra 50c, when I asked double cup with Long Black take away coffee. Oh, You can get complementary tissue to wrap your cup!

Update. Since to read the reply from the owner, I had many thoughts whether to reply or not. After a long thought, I decided to share my experience with them and the reason of disappointment.

First of all, they make a good coffe. When they open, I usued to get coffe from them once or twice a week, especially during the hard lock down I intentionally buy coffe from them to support local businesses.

I understand it is very hard for most of business have to increase the price due to supplying and many other circumstances. Like many other cafes in Melbourne, they also increase the coffee price. They also ask surcharge when pay by eftpos. My coffee was $5.50 long black. Most of cafes serve with double cup when order long black, and they usually provide double cup. Yes, this cafe used to provide me double cup when ask.

My disappointment is, despite of increase of coffee price, I couldn't get the same service as before. Lastly, I was surprised the extra 10% payment is requested to get same service, even though the increase of price.

It is very sorry to me the owner replied with the question, I think they get free cups. I am not a regular customer but as one of a local visitor, it is very said to get reply...
