Hoshi Sushi — Restaurant in Melbourne

The sushi is good, but there's a few elements which annoy me about that place. It is unreasonably expensive, it's a dollar cheaper to get a sushi roll from Flinders St than in this joint 14km out of the CBD.

When you pay for something the tap on reads the advertised price but if your bank account there is a sneaky 1% surcharge which I imagine would soar during holidays. There's some very fine print warning you of that behind the register, but it's a reasonable expectation that what the card reader reads is how much I pay.

The Bento Box had a little tub of algae and squid salad, but half the volume of it is occupied by lettuce hidden underneath. It's a 20 dollar meal, it's outrageous to pull dishonest tactics like that, and the shredded carrot that surrounds all the salmon and sticks to it is plain infuriating. I'm here for sushi, not wilted produce.

The drink fridge doesn't have a single pricetag, but they aren't cheap.

Most expensive sushi in Melbourne, at least $3 a roll but some options are more. The rolls are small and have little integrity, felt like eating a wet sock. The salmon roll still had scales in it. Was sickly tasting. The soy sauce is clearly expired, leaving a gross looking residue inside the soy-fish, I actually thought the plastic was brown before I realised. If you're really desperate for sushi I'd honestly say get on a tram and go to the city instead of here. I'm genuinely worried I'm going to wake up with food poisoning...

The worst sushi I have ever had in Melbourne. Rolls were loosely filled and thin, avocado was turning brown and the fish itself looked sad. The soy had a strange texture and left the inside of the plastic fish stained brown suspiciously - probably gone off.
