Hotts Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Went yesterday with my partner, We walked in and was immediately bombarded by so much noise. It took a while to order as it seemed as if the person taking our order didn't have any experience with doing so. It took a bit for our food to come out (Burger with the lot combo, strawberry shake and seared chicken avocado wrap) and when it did it was below average. The chips came from the bainmarie and seemed to be re-fried to be heated up. The wrap was very uneven serving wise and had too much raw red onion in it, nor did it sit well afterwards either. The Lot burger was very lacking as the bacon tasted old and was unbelievably tough, and the burger patty itself was thin and tiny. For the price point it was not worth it. My Mum and I arrived at 1:50 pm and they looked like they were closing up as they were pulling down shutters and putting chairs on tables. So I asked if they were open and they said yes (also their closing hours say 3pm) Anyway the service we received was so poor because they really had checked out and wanted to go home. They were trying to rush us placing our order even though they were holding us up by not giving a straight answer on whether the pumpkin soup was gluten free or not. The responses to whether anything on their menu was gluten free was one of complete ignorance to the world we live in which is full of people who have dietary requirements/food intolerances etc. My Mum and I left without ordering anything. We stopped in today for lunch while in the area. The staff were amazing, so friendly and service was quick. The burgers were awesome; my partner got the chicken burger and was very happy. I got a beef burger & was gripped by the flavour, the patty was cooked perfectly, lettuce was crisp & the buns were fluffy and super fresh. The chicken strip pieces are amazing, so much flavour, also perfectly cooked and succulent. 10/10 coming back when I’m in the area again.
