A roller coaster of an experience! There were highs, there were lows, overall a dizzying affair. The breakfast board at $19 was well appointed, and the turmeric maple porridge was delicious (please note it is a rice based porridge which was not described on the menu, but was a welcome surprise). The pancakes, $3 cheaper at $16, were a great disappointment, the serve is a single pancake of middling size and average toppings, better suited as a kids option! Coffee was a mixed bag as well, my partners flat white was fine (although not winning any latte art awards) while my latte should have been sent down the drain rather than to our table. Over all impression is that the consistency is what is way off here, and I happened to cop the lower end of the experience, could have been much better on a different day, who knows? As for service, our waiter seemed new, so we'll give him some time to learn the craft before reviewing, just to be fair! Staff seem lovely in...
Read moreI am new to the Elwood area and thought it would be nice to grab a quick breakfast here.. The service was terrible I stood at the outside window that says please order here for 5 minutes before the man making coffee eventually took my order at which time he told me that it was table service only for my croissant. So I went and sat down at an outside table while my partner signalled to the waitress inside we sat there for another 5 minutes while she was doing nothing inside.. So we left.. Still feeling hungry about an hour later I walked up the street again this time there was another lady in the window I asked if I could order my takeaway croissant from there she said I could. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. When it eventually arrived it had ham cheese and tomato I told her I only asked for ham and cheese and she said I thought you ment a ham cheese and tomato one. I don't believe I will be returning here with...
Read moreI've been to hundreds of cafes across the globe, and I can say that Hummingbird is a special one. The food, the atmosphere, the vibe, and the service, everything is top notch.
I was with my family and a friend's family. Even the fussy kids finished their meals. :) We're already talking about visiting them again.
Lamb souvlaki toastie, the big brekky, the mushroom toast, the fish bowl, the bagel with egg and bacon and the chips: everything was perfectly cooked and very well presented. Coffees and teas were great.
Staff are polite, friendly and professional.
There are plenty of tables inside and a few outside.
Parking is available...
