What happened to me is something SHAMEFUL not only for this restaurant but for the entire hospitality industry! I was literally kicked out with my wife just because I was trying to get to the table, where ten other colleagues engineers were waiting us for a dinner after work. YES! YOU GOT IT RIGHT! When we arrived at the entrance we said the name of the reservation, but to welcome us, there was the owner (I never meet him before) who tells us rudely to wait outside. So we went outside, my wife was already shocked by his manners, but I told her to be understanding because the place was crowded. After a few minutes outside (without anyone taking care of us), we glimpsed through the window that our diners had actually already arrived, and were waiting for us at a table in the background. So we try to get in and after a few steps we are stopped again by the owner. I try to explain again that we have a reservation and that our colleagues are actually already there at the table, pointing them out with one hand. He sees them, he turns towards me and he tells me out loud and arrogantly: ye ye I understand you got a booking but you need to go outside! My wife and I look at each other: what is he talking about? why? At this point, I got nervous and say to him: man what are you talking about? our friends are all sitting there (I point to the table again) you sent us out earlier instead of taking us to the table and now you want us to go out again? Can I know Why? What’s this? And instead of say: sorry guys I didn’t realize before or anything else to cover up his mistakes. He loses his temper, and start to yelling at me: Go out! Get out of my place! Get out! I left the place yelling at him but I shouldn't have fallen to his level. That same night, most of my wife's colleagues received an unkind welcome from this man. And they were obviously shocked by what happened to us. They will never go...
Read moreCame here on a Tuesday night and the special was any pizza for $18. That's great value for any wood fire pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas and a salad and realised our table probably wasn't big enough so we asked for a bigger table which were were told no. We might get more people come in soon. This was at 7:30pm mind you. So our pizzas arrived and both pizzas are hanging over the edge of the table, the salad is squished into a little gap between 2 glasses of water and 2 glasses of wine. Fair to say we had to be careful not to knock anything over. I then asked for some sugo (pizza sauce) as I like to dip the crust into the sauce, but the waiters had no idea what I was asking for. The pizzas were ok, certainly worth the $18 but would I pay full price (around $30 per pizza), no. The pizzas were slightly soggy and lacked flavour. The chili oil gave the pizza much needed flavour boost. We finished our food and wine and left our table to pay and there were 8 people in the restaurant and looked at each other and said they couldn't get us a bigger table. I think they have a lot to learn about...
Read moreWent out for dinner as a treat, had heard the pizzas were good and authentic. I was excited by the excellent chinotto. But to be honest, The pizza was a bit of a let down.
My pizza was very unevenly topped. An entire slice had...a small corner of cheese. Say 10%...I feel imbeing generous there. Of the three pizzas we ordered. Only one I felt was up to scratch.
My partners pizza. Though topped generously. Was over cooked. Or unevenly spread on the dough. It was super dry/crispy and had a knot of dough on one slice.
At around $24 a pizza. I'd have rather spent my money at any of the other pizza shops on ormond rd.
Maybe a little more care to the pizza preparation would make for a better experience. It can't be too hard to put six pieces of potatoes evenly on a pizza. But a whole slice...getting to a table literally all crust. Cmon, you...
