I, a loyal customer of Bunky Dory Port Melbourne, walked into the store tonight to try the $10 special ‘fish tacos’… and oh golly were they DELICIOUS! Specifically, I had it with aioli sauce as I can’t have the regular spicy sauce it comes with. The blend of flavours between the rich creamy aioli and the crisp crunch of the fried fish & slaw salad all compliment each other in ways I could have never imagined. And don’t get me started on the soft, supple texture of the tortilla bread!

The first bite was like heaven, I truly reached a state of nirvana. My mind and body transcended through space and time as electrons start firing off between neurons inside my brain. All I could think was “holy guacamole” except there is no guacamole much to my dismay, so perhaps I was thinking “holy fried fish taco with slaw salad and aioli”. You’ve outdone yourselves this time, Hunky Dory. Pure heavenly bliss.

Also let’s not forget the elephant-fish in the room. You don’t get one taco, you don’t get zero tacos, but this bad boy right here comes with TWO TACOS. It took all my power to not eat the second taco, I went home to my shorty, also a Hubky Dory fiend. She smelt the aroma of my fish taco from the doorstep! Shorty went absolutely loco for my taco and gobbled it right up, not a single crumb left (mostly due to me picking them off the floor to truly finish it). Safe to say, we’ll be back every single day for these fish tacos.

What can I say except SUPERB

I dined at hunky dory port Melbourne for the first time expecting a standard case of local fish and chips, what I experienced absolutely blew my mind. I was greeted at the door by Leila with a big big smile and positive vibes which instantly made my experience all the better.

When it came to ordering Georgia made me feel comfortable and not in any rush at all, allowing me to read the menu thoroughly while also providing her own expert opinion on menu options. Finally we reached the conclusion that I would have the char grilled calamari and to wash it down a nice ice cold corona

Leila showed me to my table and made sure I was well cared for while I waited for my food. There was a bit of a delay but Leila kept me entertained with her wit and the funniest jokes I’d ever heard at dinner before (if you see her ask her why the barramundi crossed the road)

The calamari was exquisite and definitely surpassed even some of the finer restaurants I’d been to offering calamari on the menu, it was crispy hot and perfectly charred
