Visited this bakery today at 1:30pm with my boyfriend and they close at 2pm. When we entered, there was one costumer in line before us so it was clear they were still taking orders. Once it was our turn, I still asked if it was okay to order even if just for take-out and the male staff rudely responds “you can only get take-out”. I then ask for a menu and instead of acknowledging me, he looks to my boyfriend next to me who’s taking a photo just of the space and tells him “don’t take photos of our staff” which he was clearly not doing. I had to ask again for a menu and he just points to the display window saying that’s all that’s available. I then I ask if I can order a drink and again if there’s a menu and he immediately looks to his coworker as if I’ve inconvenienced him and she then says “what do you want, I’ll just tell you some of our drinks” which is so odd but I just assume that maybe they don’t really offer drinks there. Because he looked so bothered, his coworker told him she’d just take our order and he immediately left without a word. We then quickly look at the pastries and once we were ready to order, we noticed they put out a menu on the counter that had food and a whole drinks portion but they decided not to mention the menu to us at all. The whole experience was awful and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable and we really couldn’t understand why. I honestly didn’t want to order anything at that point but my boyfriend still went ahead and ordered, even as uncomfortable as the whole interaction was. We then sat outside on a bench and saw a few more customers enter the bakery and still place orders so it was never a matter of them closing, which is the only thing that might make sense but still wouldn’t justify any of their behavior towards us. The photo below is what my boyfriend took, with no staff in it. This was such a horrible experience and the worst customer service.

📍Iris Bakery, Brunswick I went to this Copenhagen inspired bakery in Brunswick after seeing many rave reviews. The bakery itself is absolutely gorgeous. It is minimalistic in style, has indoor and outdoor seating, and has a large open kitchen where you can watch the bakers at work. We tried the cardamom bun, the morning bun (cinnamon and orange) the pain au chocolat, and a savoury pastry (forget the name, whoops). I really wanted to try a tartine as well, but they were out unfortunately. I loved the savoury pastry, it had guanciale and fried shallots, and was super yum. I also loved the cardamom bun, it had a subtle flavour, which I like as someone who isn’t a massive sweet tooth, and was a great texture. I didn’t love the pain au chocolat as much. The top was veryyy flaky, I think too much. And the filling was dark chocolate, and I think I prefer milk chocolate in croissants. Overall I enjoyed the bakery, but wished there was a bit more variety of pastries. Overall 3.6 ⭐️ out of 5.

Ok I’ve only been here once, had their morning bun and got an iced oat latte. (Today at lunchtime) Honestly the overall experience was a bit emmmmm 🤨🤨🤨 the morning bun was fluffy inside but bit hard to chew on the outside.. gave me the feeling that it has been left there since the very early morning. The coffee was watery. When I asked a straw for takeaway and they went “we don’t really have straws” ok fine, but the sipping spout was way too big and the lid couldn’t close properly. Just need to be careful with it and try not to spill. The service was 🤨🤨🤨 as well. I was on my phone talking to my coworker, sitting at my spot, the lady at the front service walked past and gave me a strange eye look.. not sure what happened but maybe she’s having a tough day. Overall I feel like this place was good for photos and for those who enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and have conversations with friends etc. Probably will visit another time to see if it changes my mind.

Delicious Baked Goods, sustainable and ethical The Iris Bakery provides a range of sweet and savoury baked goods, freshly made sandwiches and coffees. A small selection of produce such as jam and coffee is available. Milk from How Now Dairy can also be purchased - this is a closed loop system; glass milk bottles can be purchased and then returned for recycling. How Now Dairy is one of the few dairies that allows calves to remain with their mothers. The Iris Bakery has a few tables available for eat-in; most of the trade is take-away. Popular items do sell-out; ordering on-line avoids disappointment. Saturday mornings around 10.30 is a popular time, with the queue extending out the door some days. Waiting time can be a while, but there is a lot going on. Service is usually friendly and welcoming, but on occasions can be a little distant (maybe following a big rush of customers?). Everything that I've purchased has been delicious, favourites include the cardamom bun, the morning bun and salted chocolate chip cookie, as well as the baguette. Sandwiches change routinely; there is always a vegetarian option available. Other reviews have mentioned the surcharge for weekends. The Iris Bakery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; check the website for opening times. Overall, I have found products on sale at the Iris delicious, and I support their philosophy of reducing waste. Definitely...

Came for pastries and coffee with a few friends. My friends arrived and ordered at roughly 9am. I arrived and ordered at roughly 9:15am. The coffees didn't come out until around 9:20. We were enjoying our food and several of us considering ordering a second pastry once the line got shorter. The staff were hovering, and taking our plates as we finished. At 9:30, the male staff member with a nose ring came over and told us the he needed us to leave so they could use the table for someone else. We hadn't even finished our coffee. He rudely added that they had been "giving us hints" for a while. If you are going to offer a dine in service, you should give customers at least 15 minutes to finish their coffee before kicking them out. I acknowledge that the store is busy, but the coffees had only come out 10 minutes prior, and your two staff members were incredibly rude. The whole experience baffles me, it is quite honestly one of the most unprofessional, and rudest customer service experiences of my life. I also note that I did not see anything listed for the surcharge, but was charged a surcharge, which I did not realise until...
