Absolutely devastated! It’s my first Mother’s Day and I am Coeliac - I thought wow what a great place to go heaps of gluten free options and even ENDORSED BY COELIAC AUSTRALIA I thought this restaurant was SAFE but it’s NOT. Again, it’s my first Mother’s Day I was so excited to be what I thought would be a beautiful lunch with my family. My 5 month old daughter, my husband, My mum and My Dad (whom is also coeliac and afraid to go out to eat in restaurants after being ‘glutened’ so many times before but I reassured him that the restaurant is ENDORSED BY COELIAC AUSTRALIA it will be SAFE. Although I was unfortunately VERY WRONG.) absolutely so disappointed. I hope you learn to educate yourselves and team better about coeliac disease. It’s not just oh I accidentally ate gluten I’ll just have a bit of a sore stomach. NO. It’s full on symptoms - severe vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, full body aches and pains - ITS AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE!! Once gluten enters the system of someone who is coeliac it destroys part of their small intestine which won’t grown back or get better. THERE IS NO MEDICATION. And it won’t just affect someone for a little bit, it will be up to at least 3-4 days before starting to feel SLIGHTLY better. Again, being my first Mother’s Day and I am on the phone to Nurse on Call because my night is about to take a turn for the worst, I’ll either be hovered over a toilet bowl and trying to see my gp as early as I can tomorrow or having to call an ambulance and spend time in the hospital - while my husband will have to take the next few days off work to care for our daughter full time until I am better. My dad has worse symptoms and is a lot more severe than that and is older this will affect him a lot worse than myself. Happy First Mothers Day to Me.
I will say once the manager found out there was a sincere apology and he completely took care of our bill and the team were sincerely apologetic also but an apology won’t fix the horrible next few days ahead which we ( my dad and I ) will...
Read moreTERRIBLE ATTITUDE FROM OWNER have been to countless italian restaurants in melbourne and this place is far from recommendable. to begin with, the portion sizes are incredibly small (15 bites) especially given the price of 30+$ per serving, and the taste isnt anything impressive either. you’re better off going to most other restaurants that will serve at least twice the amount for the same price point. same goes for their starters. the worst of all would be the attitude of the owner. she asked how the food was and we first hesitated as we were unsure whether or not to voice our opinions. before even responding, she immediately said something along the lines of the food being “something new” to us and that we “probably aren’t used to it” in a rather condescending tone, mind you we are very visibly not caucasian. upon raising our issue, she instantly retorted that the two of us shared one portion and that we should “bear that in mind the next time you come”in that passive aggressive tone of hers with a cynical grin plastered on her face before walking off leaving us with no way to respond. sharing is something that the two of us frequently do, and we simply made an observation, nothing to do with it not being enough or us still being hungry or anything. it was merely a comment. we were content at the end of the meal, nothing amazing, just a simple meal. but after receiving such terrible attitude from the owner, it’s safe to say that we will never be coming back ever again. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the pasta. Every bite was a burst of authentic Italian flavors that showcased the chef's expertise. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the variety of sauces were a testament to their dedication to culinary excellence.
And let's talk about dessert! The tiramisu was a revelation – each layer harmoniously melded together, creating a delicate balance of coffee, mascarpone, and just the right touch of cocoa. But the true showstopper was the pistachio dough balls. These bite-sized delights were a symphony of texture and taste, with a crisp exterior giving way to a melt-in-your-mouth interior.
The service was impeccable, with the staff attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations, including wine pairings, added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal.
Overall, I left the restaurant thoroughly satisfied and impressed. If you're a fan of authentic Italian cuisine that captures the essence of Italy, paired with outstanding service and an array of delectable desserts, this is the place to be. I can't recommend it highly enough – a true gem that deserves every bit of praise...
