JALB - Gelato & Panini Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Today was my fourth visit. In the meantime, we had delicious ice cream, coffee and good customer service there, but not today. We ordered three single cups (snickers for my husband, ferrero for me, and over the rainbow for my kid). She was putting the snickers in a big cup so I said we ordered 3 single cups and she suddenly took the snickers out of the cup and put it in a ferrero tub. Then she put it in a single cup again and gave it back to me saying it's ferrero. My husband and I said it is snickers, and only then she realized what the problem was. But she left the ice cream mixed in the tub(There were still snickers flavor left in the ferrero tub) finished our order, and went into the kitchen. The ferrero flavor I ordered was mixed with snickers and I didn't want to eat it. The reason for leaving this review is that if I am allergic to food, or if another customer who is allergic to food eats the mixed taste and anaphylaxis comes, the pain and the responsibility are too great, so I raise it in the hope of being alert. I had an absolutely wonderful experience here and can’t recommend this place highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff were all amazing – friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do.

The gentleman at the front with the glasses deserves a special mention. He was welcoming, helpful with recommendations, and made the whole experience feel personal and memorable. His positive energy really set the tone for the visit.

There were so many options to choose from, and every single thing I tried was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a place where the quality of the food matches the warmth of the service, but this spot delivers on both fronts.

I’m a massive sandwich fein and quite critical when trying new sandwich places. JALB is right next to my home and was so excited to not have to travel far to get a focaccia sandwich. I was skeptical at first, but when I ordered their Schnitty Panino, I was actually blown away with how fresh and packed full of flavour it was!

The focaccia bread was fluffy, hot and crispy, the chicken cutlet was Parmesan crusted and freshly fried, as well as the veggies and sauces were a great addition to balance out the sandwich. Honestly better than most sandwich places in Melbourne, (and I’ve tried them all).

The owners were also so wonderful, they radiated positive energy and checked up on us to see if we were enjoying the sanga.
