First impressions. Business had a great ambience and a welcoming feeling. The greetings upon walking in were brief but welcoming. A quick hello. Was all that was needed so it was good.
They gave us time to check over the menu without pestering us. The ordering process was quick and simple, we knew what we wanted and they were happy to put it in, with not to many questions. One odd part that happened was the lady that served us did seem a little stand offish when we asked if we could just have the burger without the chips, the response was "you will still be paying for them" like yes we understand and that's fine. But. There are other ways around saying it. Maybe "We can do that, however we can change the price"
The Food and Drinks
Pastry - Crossiant, the Crossiant was not buttery enough, had a very chewy texture and did not come across as soft as a Crossiant should be, still lovely to have with coffee.
Wagyu Burger - Flavour was very well balanced within the mixture of tomato and mustard mayo, pattie was cooked well, I prefer a little red but, still had it's juices flowing, the mixture of lettuce cheese and tomato was very refreshing, all ingredients complimented each other well. The Chips were crunchy and delicious, well seasonsed and perfectly golden. Very well done on this one, recommend trying it
Chikn Burger - Our experience on this one was a little under average, while the slaw and kimchi mix was delicious, there was perhaps too much and resulted in a bit of a soggy mix on the bun. However, the flavour wasn't tied in with the chicken, as if they were 2 separate dishes. The chicken was not too crunchy and lacked the punch you expect from a fried chicken burger. I would recommend having an open mind and trying this one, just be ready for a bit of a mess on your plate. Chips were as above with the wagyu burger
Drinks Choices today:
Biscoff Milkshake - Great Choice for lovers of Caramel and Biscoff combined. The flavour was not overpowering, Biscoff flavour was very refreshing.
Frozen Hot chocolate - This shake was perfect. It had the right amount of chocolate. Not too much. But not too little, which made it perfectly refreshing. Chocolate flakes on top was...
Read moreThe food was amazing especially the pastries The barista made really good coffees and he was smiling and had a really good friendly vibe to him and he even bought my coffee to my table as I was sitting next to the entrance those little gestures counts people never forget an good experience How you make them feel that current moment. However the only thing I wasn’t happy about was the staff at the cashier and the staff that bought that was packing the takeaway
One there was a lot of yummy baked goods on display and it was my first time there I simply asked what flavours were the scones As I was so overwhelmed with such choices Instead of telling me what the flavour was she picked up the sign that was next to many other signs and pointed at it and smirked … which I found very unpleasant Then I asked is it ok if I get it packed in a box because I ordering a few things to take with me She replied yeah Then staff that was packing my order put them in paper bags I just want to double check and said sorry but am I able to get it in a box As I ordered 7 pieces of baked goods then I asked her for suggestions on the menu between two items her reply was none of them are her preference….isn’t really unpleasant to hear the staff don’t even like the food at the cafe Then the staff that packed my take way came to the table put down my takeaway and I said we don’t give boxes out unless it’s a big order u have to pay for it but this time I just give it to you I wasn’t informed at the cashier I would of been happy to pay for it just that 7 pieces of baked goods was a box I was purchasing for my family it wouldn’t been good if I had cakes and scones and savoury pastries in paper bags and no carry bag Would of been hard to carry
Other then the two staff that served me the cafe itself was a...
Read moreI went to Jock + Mack Cafe for breakfast today and was immediately underwhelmed. We stood at the doorway, directly in front of the counter, for about four minutes before any staff acknowledged us or asked if we needed a table. The slow service made me hesitant, but I decided to give them a chance.
I ordered the smashed avo with a side of eggs and a coffee—$38 total. Pricey, but I hoped the quality would match. The coffee arrived first, and thankfully, it was smooth and served at the perfect temperature. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of the visit.
When the food arrived, I was served one piece of burnt and cold toast, topped with bruised, brown avocado. I tried to overlook the presentation, but the taste was just as bad—dry, rubbery, and cold. Throughout the meal, not a single staff member checked in on us.
At the end, I offered some polite feedback, hoping it might help improve future experiences for others. Sadly, the response was underwhelming—just a "sorry" with no attempt to make things right.
If you're just grabbing a coffee, I’d recommend a takeaway—it really was a great brew. But for anything more, I'd suggest trying somewhere else with better service...
