Joe's Shoe Store — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have been coming here somewhat frequently over the last 2-3 months - probably much to the exasperation of the staff, haha - and have been given nothing less than the VIP treatment by the team, all whilst they consistently maintain a perfect grasp of professionalism that many other bars seem to be sorely lacking. They'll greet me by name when I wander in, they'll already be pouring my favourite beverage before I sit down and they'll always make sure I've bloody well checked in. This isn't aimed at a select few of the staff either, but the staff entire. I've no idea where you managed to get this fantastic collective of employees from, but I'll be honest with you, I've worked in a lot of bar and restaurants over the years and seeing a team work this well together is both incredibly rare and glorious to behold....

My old favourite haunt. Visiting Melbourne for the weekend after moving away, and I'm very pleased to find Joe's is everything I remembered. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Selection of beverages excellent - we tried a salty sherry and a cherry ale. Music fabulous, we harassed the bar staff frequently for the name of tracks the DJ was playing! Great vibes, very low lighting, busy but not crowded, music good volume for conversations. The only thing I would fault is unfortunately the open door to the back funneled the smoke from the courtyard through the venue. Not something I see an easy solution to. Will continue to return...

Worst experience I’ve had in years. I ordered a drink via QR code and it didn’t arrive after 30 minutes. I went to the bar and asked where it was and was accused of drinking it already. The barman became quite aggressive and combative and was accusing me of being intoxicated and “lucky to be even served a drink.” I was offered a refund and accepted.
