This is a review page. So I suggest people who are being upset about negative comments, should just take a chill for a moment. You can't just expect every review to be 5 stars, and also expect everyone to like what they are served. I understand it's a family business. But just as a family business is trying to survive and make money, we the consumers also have family to run, and we don't want to pay again and again for something that's not pleasing. I mean, would you keep wasting money on bad clothing? Or a bad car? No you wouldn't. So why is food any different. Of course if we are offered the food for (free) it would be disrespectful to leave a negative review, however in saying that, we are paying for it, therefore it's our right to share a review, as to the things we may like or dislike. Giving constructive criticism isn't a bad thing, it could mean that the person cooking could improve in his skills and production after hearing feedback, so we shouldn't be looking at it bad, or we are trying to hurt his business. The reasons reviews exist, so people can help guide others too good quality food. If we don't give good or bad reviews, how will others know. Yes unfortunately negative reviews can have an impact on someone's business. But that's with everything in life. If you go to work, and you don't perform well, you get sacked. It's unfortunately the fact of life. So why then are restaurants above this rule of law? For those who do comment negatively should still do so in respectful terms, using words such as "disgusting" isn't polite. And extremely disrespectful. We shouldn't be talking about food that way, and that sort of language can hurt people and cause distress. I don't believe it's ethical to talk to humans that way, rather words of encouragement would be much more nicer and appropriate. At the end of the day, you have someone at least trying to do something for themselves in life, unlike other people who sit around as bums all day on welfare payments.
Ok, with that said. Let's get to my experience, so we went in with my family, and ordered noodles and lamb skewers. They looked great in the photos, which I'm happy about. I like photos can give you a good description. So moving a long, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place, really tidy, and smells great.
So the food came, and as earlier reviews suggest, it's not the standard Chinese flavours you would expect, the noodles were fresh however the sauce was bland. I couldn't really figure out if I was eating Chinese or Italian. Again other people might like it, but it really didn't float my boat. With that said, the lamb skewers arrived, they looked absolutely delishes, tender and succulent. However, it seemed to be a part of a lamb that's very very (fatty). Yes it's flavourful, and I'm sure people would like it, but for me personally I have cholesterol issues, and I think this was extremely fatty for me.
Would I go back to this restaurant, to try other things on the menu? Possibly. Maybe I will. So I'm 50/50 on that one. Anyway, I tried to be as nice as possible, and to give an honest and polite review, and I honestly hope, the business continues to run, because just because I didn't get the experience I hoped for, I'm sure others will.
I'm giving it two stars, because I can still see there was effort put in according to their customs, and the owner was very polite, and treated us well. I wish I could give it more stars, but I'm trying to be as fair as I can in my...
Read moreThe food served at this restaurant is what you will be craving every week & you will seriously consider it as one of your last meals to have on earth!
The hand pulled noodles are a must & so are the lamb skewers, dumplings & cucumber salad. The noodles are made by a very talented chef who's hands produce the most delicious plate of noodles you will ever taste! Please take note on the menu the chilli symbol, which tells you the level of heat it is, as some people have complained about the spiciness, but did not mention that thy did not read the menu thoroughly enough.
As for people who complained about "not enough meat", please consider that maybe you eat too much meat & your expectations are a bit excessive. The meals served here are balanced & gluttony is not on the cards. The food is thoughtful & put together in a way that lets the noodles & all the components shine together.
The owners are very courteous, welcoming & warm. I cannot really imagine them acting in a way that is aggressive or distasteful. We have visited more than 20 times & have never had a bad experience with their customer service.
The restaurant is clean & you must realise that you have not only come here to eat the most delicious food of your life, but please understand it is also a cultural experience that cares about it's cuisine & preparation of food than fast dining restaurants. Such care is given to every dish, so it does take a bit more time to prepare it fresh for you. But see it in a way where quality overrides everything else, as enjoyment of the food is the priority.
Do not expect fast cheaply made food here. Instead, come here like you are visiting a family home, where you sit down, have some tea & wait for the lovingly made food to bless your tastebuds. They do not try to quickly make your food & rush you out the door like most establishments nowadays.
Also keep in mind the cultural background of the Uyghur people & do your research, this is extremely important & essential. This is a family run business who have escaped such tragedy & are trying to do their very best in this country. Look into this & understand where the food comes from, it's people, culture, history &...

Karlaylisi opened in September 2018, so they are new to the scene. It is ran by a lovely husband and wife team who are friendly, hospitable and humble. You know right away that they strive to serve you the best plate of noodles that are stretched by hand as well as many other delicious items on the menu.
The decor is homely, welcoming and clean. You will begin to start day dreaming about owning your own private table here, because the food is tantalising and you feel at home.
Our favourite dish is of course the hand made noodles, quarter length and fried. The lamb skewers are perfectly smokey and the fried dumplings are so delicious that you order a plate every time. Also, try the salads (flavour bombs)! Some days the dumplings are not available because they are sold out, but be ok with that because there are worse things going on in the world!
Yes, the restaurant is working to fine tune it's service and waiting times. But please be patient, because they have just opened, really. If you ever get to have a conversation with them, know the context of how Karlaylisi became what it is today. Have some empathy and instead of writing a bashing review, politely suggest ways in which they can improve. In due time, things will start to run smoothly, I'm sure of it. Go in there with an open heart, read the menu (because it is extensive), relax, unwind and wait for the master in the kitchen to prepare your food (usually a 1 chef show). Don't get nasty and leave your western world expectations elsewhere. Because if you kindly receive what this restaurant has to offer, then you will truly understand the magic of it's food and the family who run it.
I wish you all the success Karlaylisi. You are beautiful people. Thank you for sharing your lovely cuisine and...
