Kokoro Japanese Sushi — Restaurant in Melbourne

I ordered number 55:- chicken curry and was given 54, chicken katsu. When I returned to tell them they’d made a mistake, they refused to correct it, after getting payment upfront. I refuse to eat something I didn’t order and I refuse to pay them again for something I’ve already paid for. Waited 45 minutes for our order, while all the Uber Eats orders were flying out the door. They prioritise Uber Eats with no regard for customers eating in. Got it after 45 minutes and it was wrong. And do you think they cared? Couldn’t give a toss. Why worry about it one person when there’s all these Uber Eats people to feed? Shocking service. Shocking customer service. Terrible experience. I go here to get a sushi/sashimi pack for lunch when I don't have the time to queue at the very popular sushi place further down the street. Also, I kind of want to support the underdog.

More often than not, I regret my decision. The sashimi does not taste fresh. The rice is too tightly packed in the nigiris and lacking in rice seasoning. On 2 separate occasions, I found bones in my sashimi. I recently also found fish scales stuck to the sashimi which is rather off-putting and makes me question how the food is cleaned and handled.

I don't think I'll be giving them...

This is not a Japanese restaurant despite the menu. The dishes do not taste Japanese nor do they resemble the dish. I had Sukiyaki Beef, it was stir fried beef with undercooked onion, lots of julienne carrot, chilli and some thick non Japanese tasting soy sauce a very far cry from sukiyakidon. I had been once before and gotten Katsudon that was all wrong and dry but I thought maybe a bad day or new chef. But won’t be back after today, I won’t make that mistake again. Friendly staff...
