Friday 5th Jan 2024.
Arrived at the counter at 8.50pm on Friday evening and placed our orders for a takeaway meal. We were told by the young lady whose name was Alicia that they would be closing in 5 mins. We ordered the following: 2 Grilled packs of Blue Grenadier with rice and 2 Greek salads one without dressing. The perception we found with Alicia was very impatient as she was rushing us as she was wanting to finish her shift. We paid $35.00, and it was paid at 8.56pm. We waited outside as a few ppl were coming in and out and collecting their orders. We went back in around 9.10pm and a tall woman with long black hair who was wearing glasses from the kitchen, mentioned the name of the order and we collected it. On looking in the bag to check it Alicia asked the woman with the glasses can you mark the salad that has no dressing however we said don’t worry about it as we will check it when we get home. Upon arriving home we saw that one of the fillets was barely there and we were given left over scraps and was not a full fillet like the other one. Both meals didn’t come with rice, instead we got chips, and both Greek salads came with dressing added when we requested that we wanted one without dressing. We went back down straight away as we knew they wouldn’t answer the phone and approached Alicia who apologised for this happening. We told her that one should never serve leftover scraps of fish fillets to customers and the order was wrong and all we were wanting was a new fish fillet but the response was we can’t do that because the kitchen was closed. No refund or any other mean w management could be dealt with until there is a manager on shift for authorisation. We requested that the manager whose name we were given was Cat/Kat or Manoj that they would be in contact with us within a couple of days to deal with the situation by Sunday the latest. We did not hear anything from management whatsoever. Lip service is not good coming from a well known establishment, if you can’t follow through with what you say, then don’t mention it in the first place. We won’t be coming back,...
Read moreFish And Chips, Grilled Fish @ Hunky Dory. . Founded in September 2004 by Greg Robotis, who hails from a long-line of fishermen, Hunky Dory is renowned for serving up healthier renditions of Fish And Chips. . Ambience at Hunky Dory differs by branch. The Richmond branch is casual and rustic, with simple sturdy wooden furnishings and a lingering frying odour; while the South Yarra branch is up-market with fine cutlery laid out on elegant wooden furnishings draped with clean tableclothes. . Service across Hunky Dory branches are friendly, efficient, and attentive, with staff demonstrating good product knowledge on the menu, and working quickly at serving or cleaning up. . Food at Hunky Dory is classic British English and Australian cuisine, focusing on fish and chips, either battered and deep-fried, or seasoned and grilled. They offer a good range of fresh fish and seafood. Portions are large. . The Fish And Chips, The Old School Fried Flake Pack (AUD $14) is a filling set meal, an above average rendition that I would order again. . It's served with thick-cut potato chips, crisp outside and fluffy inside with bold starchy salty savoury flavour. There's fresh crunchy lettuce with nice vegetal sweet flavour. . The star is the fresh fillet of flake fish, which is a lean white flesh fish. It's coated in a thin crisp batter, with a tender moist flaky texture, and a meaty salty sweet savoury flavour. Addictive. . The Grilled Fish, Grilled Flake Pack (AUD $18.50) is a healthy set meal. . There's a fresh garden salad (with cucumbers, tomatoes, baby spinach, chard, arugula / rocket leaves) that's crisp and juicy and crunchy, with bright vegetal sweet earthy bitter herbal flavour. . Here the fresh fillet of flake fish is lightly seasoned with salt and paprika, and has a tender moist flaky texture with meaty salty sweet spice flavour. An enticing meal that...
Read moreThe Richmond store has officially outdone itself in incompetence, thanks to Adam—the so-called “manager.” This is the second time in four months that he’s botched our order, and both times, he’s flat-out refused to fix his own mistakes. This week, our food never even made it to the table, and instead of doing the obvious—correcting the issue—Adam decided the best course of action was to demand we pay for the missing item. After 15 minutes of his smug dismissiveness, our food was cold, and he still refused a refund or even the basic courtesy of reheating it.....mind you, we weren't even given cutlery to eat the food, yet were blamed for it going cold.
This isn’t about a missing side of chips—it’s about respect for customers, something Adam clearly lacks. His passive-aggressive attitude, refusal to problem-solve, and condescending demeanor are an embarrassment to customer service. As a loyal customer of eight years, I’ve never been treated with such blatant disregard, and I won’t be returning. If Adam wants to run a store like it’s a personal power trip rather than a business, maybe he should also open up a dictionary and revise the definitions of "respect" and "hospitality".
To Polly at the head office, we appreciate you compensating the meal but will never be returning to this store and will most definitely be advising our friends and family to...
