Tucked away in the pretty Guildford Lane, Krimper Café feels like one of Melbourne’s best-kept brunch secrets. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with rustic, industrial decor, warm lighting, and a relaxed atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at ease.
The coffee here is excellent, featuring beans from Maker, and the menu offers a thoughtful selection of both classic and creative dishes. During our recent visit, we ordered the Bacon & Waffle, which was beautifully presented and generously portioned. The combination of sweet waffles, savoury bacon, and perfectly cooked eggs worked together in perfect harmony. It’s a must-try for anyone who loves a sweet-and-salty flavour profile.
We also had the Matcha Latte, which was served at the ideal temperature and had just the right balance of earthiness and sweetness. It was smooth, comforting, and a definite 10 out of 10.
What really sets Krimper apart, beyond the food and drinks, is the space itself and the lovely staff. The team is always kind, attentive, and welcoming. The ambience is perfect for a casual brunch, a date, or even a quiet spot to get some work done. While it can get busy and slightly loud at peak times, and the lighting may be a bit dim depending on when you go, the overall experience is always worth it.
Krimper also offers a number of vegan and vegetarian options, which makes it a great choice for groups with different dietary needs. Whether you're a local or just exploring the city, this is one brunch spot you’ll want to keep...
Read moreMy friends and I ended at Krimper Cafe after the cafe we tried to dine in told us that we had to wait at least 30-35 minutes. But we like the atmosphere in Krimper, and I watched the brilliant host, waitstaff and food runners worked together nonstop to cope with a constant flow of people into the restaurant, while maintaining their friendliness and cool. We had to wait for about 25 minutes, but we did get a table for 4. The table size is smaller than usual and quite crowded for adults, but we were delighted by the decorations around us, and the coffee was served first as the food items would take 30 minutes to be ready. The coffee was great, but we were very hungry. We arrived at around 10:20am and the food arrived at 11:25am. The brunch had turned into a nice lunch 😂. The dishes were well presented and they tasted good, not extraordinary but the serving was generous enough and fresh, I had to work til late afternoon and my order of the Big Brekkie Platter was enough to last me until I arrived home for dinner on that day. Unlike the other cafe we didn't dine in, Krimper doesn't have limited dining time, my former colleagues and I could chat to our heart's content until I had to go to work. The place was still buzzing with lots of people from all walks of life when we were leaving at 12:30pm, and the host was still smiling when I thanked her on our way out. If you don't mind the wait and the noise of people happily talking and laughing around you, Krimper Cafe is a great choice when...
Read moreKrimper cafes one of the places we've passed by so many times that we thought we'd give it a go. A few people on the wait list didn't turn up when their name was called so on Sunday midday after a 10 minute wait we found ourselves seated in the cosy pleasantly noisy interior of Krimper.
The almond cappuccino and flat white we ordered came quickly and were average. The menu painted a really nice picture of the baked shakshuka and the kimchi scramble, especially the latter so we waited for a while for them, natural given the cafe was crowded and buzzing.
The food didn't live up to what the menu said though. The baked shakshuka was pretty much a poached egg and seasoned grilled mushrooms sat atop baked beans accompanied by a single extremely buttered piece of white toast. Perhaps a variation on the traditional shakshuka? If it is it wasn't for us.
I expected the kimchi scramble to be eggs scrambled with kimchi, the menu said gochujang tofu and perhaps I was mistaken to think it might be fried tofu tossed in gochujang. I was mistaken in both my assumptions, very well scrambled egg topped with a bit of delicious kimchi all of it sat on two pieces of well toasted focaccia and scattered with a few pieces of fried tofu all in a plate painted with gochujang sauce. Perhaps I expected too much but I blame the nicely written menu.
An average experience overall with very friendly and...
