Overlay Coffee — Restaurant in Melbourne

I usually come to this café every week and always order coffee, but today I decided to try something different and wanted a matcha drink. I ordered around 9:15 AM, asking the staff for a drink that had both peanut and matcha since I didn’t know the exact name. When my order was ready, I received a peanut latte (coffee), not the matcha drink I expected. I politely told the staff that I thought I had ordered matcha instead of coffee. They asked for my name and checked the order, which was correct, but the drink was wrong. After that, there wasn’t much of a response from them. They talked among themselves but didn’t offer an apology or to fix it promptly. I told them it was fine because I didn’t want to waste time if they weren’t willing to make it right. :(

Despite this, I’ll continue coming here because the drinks are great. However, I hope the staff can improve their customer service in the future....

sad to give this place 3 stars because the first time I went here, it was really great! The drinks were delicious and the people serving me were kind. However, the 2nd time I went there, I was served by different people and was suddenly asked to leave before finishing my drink - I was sitting and reading quietly. It felt a bit unfair :( I understood that the place was getting crowded & they wanted to take new customers, but it was strange that I got kicked out when other customers who had been there longer than me (who also seemed to only order one drink), weren't asked to leave first or at the same time as me. I'm also a POC who is visibly religious, so that experience really made me doubt this place, and I'm uncomfortable with returning here in case I'm treated that way again. so glad we walked by and stumbled upon this cafe one morning during our short stay in the city. we could smell the coffee literally from a mile away! did a quick look up online to find out what’s popular and pretty much half the reviews mentioned the peanut butter cream latte so we had to give it a try 🥜 we thought “what an odd yet interesting combo” as we took our first sip but we can’t rlly taste the peanut butter much until the last 1/3 when the flavour started popping and that was it 🔥 i must say it got a lil addictive to the point that we had to come by again for another in the afternoon on the very same day and another before we left the city so yes it was that good!! however if you prefer your coffee black and bitter you may try the coconut...
